Met de auto op reis gaan blijft één van de fijnste manieren om vrijheid te voelen. Je bepaalt zelf je tempo, je route en je stops. Geen wachtrijen, geen bagagelimieten, geen vaste schema’s. Maar die vrijheid werkt alleen echt als je je reis goed aanpakt. Zonder voorbereiding wordt een roadtrip al snel vermoeiend in plaats van ontspannend. Met de juiste mindset en een paar slimme keuzes maak je van elke rit een onvergetelijke ervaring.
Veel stress ontstaat al vóór vertrek. Te veel kilometers per dag, te weinig rustmomenten en te hoge verwachtingen.

Stel: je bent al jaren fan van reizen, van vrijheid op het water of de geur van dennen in een bos en je overweegt om een boot of vakantiehuis te kopen. Het klinkt als de ultieme droom: een eigen stekkie voor weekends en vakanties, zonder telkens iets te huren of in een druk hotel te zitten. Maar voordat je die stap zet, is het slim om eerst goed na te denken.
Een eigen boot of vakantiehuis heeft veel aantrekkingskracht: het is jouw eigen plek om tot rust te komen, weg van dagelijkse beslommeringen. Je bepaalt zelf wanneer je gaat, met wie, en hoe lang je blijft. Voor veel reizigers voelt het als een rustpunt.
Tegelijkertijd is bezit geen vanzelfsprekendheid: het brengt verplichtingen en kosten mee die je niet moet onderschatten. Een vakantiehuis of boot is geen hotel of huurwoning. Je bent verantwoordelijk voor onderhoud, stalling, verzekering en alle bijkomende lasten. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan onvoorziene uitgaven voor reparaties, extra kosten bij verhuur of seizoensgebonden beperkingen die het gebruik beïnvloeden.

Wat past beter bij jou: boot of vakantiehuis?
Een boot biedt ultieme flexibiliteit. Je kunt meerdere locaties aandoen, je ‘verplaatst’ je vakantieplek als het ware. Dat is perfect voor mensen die houden van avontuur op het water en zich makkelijk kunnen aanpassen. Tegelijkertijd vraagt een boot intensief onderhoud, en zijn de jaarlijkse kosten vaak hoger dan verwacht. Zeker als je er niet zelf veel aan doet.
Een vakantiehuis is stabieler qua investering. Je kiest voor een vaste plek die je naar eigen smaak kunt inrichten en verbeteren. Bovendien kun je het huis mogelijk (deels) verhuren als je er zelf niet bent. De keerzijde: minder mobiliteit, en ook hier zijn er terugkerende kosten die vaak onderschat worden.
Let op: De waardeontwikkeling van een vakantiehuis kan aantrekkelijk zijn, maar dit is sterk afhankelijk van locatie, onderhoud en regelgeving.
Een slimme investering bescherm je met een goede verzekering
Welke keuze je ook maakt, je koopt geen luxeproduct maar een bezit met waarde. En waarde vraagt om bescherming. Het risico op schade door brand, storm, inbraak of ongelukjes is niet te vermijden maar je kunt je er wel goed tegen wapenen.
Daarom is het verstandig om je vanaf het begin goed te laten adviseren over passende verzekeringen. Reizen staat voor vrijheid. Geen vaste routine, geen agenda, alleen jij en de weg die zich ontvouwt. Toch weet elke reiziger dat echte vrijheid niet ontstaat uit chaos, maar uit overzicht. Wanneer je weet waar je bent, wat je nodig hebt en hoe je keuzes maakt, wordt reizen pas echt zorgeloos. Dat geldt voor alles onderweg: je route, je bagage, je geld en zelfs de manier waarop je met technologie omgaat. In een wereld waarin innovatie snel vooruitgaat draait vrijheid steeds meer om inzicht.
De voorbereiding als fundament
Spontaan reizen klinkt romantisch, maar zelfs de meest vrije avonturier plant bewust. Een goede voorbereiding betekent niet dat je alles vastlegt, maar dat je ruimte creëert voor improvisatie. Het projekt van Evelyn in Luweero hebben we afgelopen tijd nog verder financieel ondersteund zodat zij haar projekt verder kan ontwikkelen. Onlangs heeft zij bezoek gehad van het nationaal Ugandees NGO forum. Zij waren zeer onder de indruk.

Het geld dat hierdoor vrij komt kunnen we mooi voor andere projekten gebruiken die wel duurzaam zijn. Evelyn is nog volop bezig met haar projekt om het beter te maken. Ook Kaggwa Fred in Kateete is bezig met een aanvraag bij Wilde Ganzen. Hij gaat Jackfruit in combinatie met bananenbomen aanplanten wat veel voedsel oplevert.
Kato Devis zal zaterdag zijn tweede kluitjespers ophalen in Kampala bij het Catholic training centrum. De eerste zaden die we bij Home Sweet Home hadden gezaaid zijn goed uitgekomen. Ook Geraldine heeft haar tuin met annanas planten er weer mooi bij liggen

[message] => Za 20 jan. Vanmorgen eerst nog wat boodschappen gedaan. Daarna naar Kawanda dat is iets ten noorden van Kampala. Daar is een onderzoekcentrum op het gebied van tuinbouw. Zuid Korea doet hier al jaren bepaalde onderzoeken op het gebied van groententeelt.
Kopia heet de organisatie. Ik ben hier al meerdere malen geweest. Het is rustig op zaterdag maar de bedrijfsleider woont op het complex. Ik vraag een paar voorbijgangers of ik iemand kan spreken en gelijk komt de bedrijfsleider in zicht. Ik vertel dat ik wat zaden uit nederland bij heb. Hij is wel geinteresserd en laat mij de tuin zien. Als we de tuin weer uitlopen zien we de grote baas uit Zuid Korea zijn Kantoor inlopen. De bedrijfsleider vraagt of ik hem wel wil zien. Ja natuurlijk. Hij gaat het kantoor binnen en verteld zijn baas over het bezoek. Ik mag verder komen in zijn kantoor. Als ik vertel dat ik uit nederland kom word hij zelfs een beetje enthousiast. Hij kent de universiteit van Wageningen ook. Ik laat de zaden zien en handel het verder met de bedrijfsleider af. Hij gaat de zaden zeker proberen en zal contact houden. Mooi resultaat weer.
Dan terug naar Kampala. Wat eten mijn koffer inpakken en mijn verblijf afrekenen. Dan vertrek ik naar de taxiplaats voor Entebbe.
Ik ben om17.30 op het vliegveld. Wel wat vroeg maar kan hier nu mooi mijn verhaal schrijven.

[message] => Vr. 19 jan. Ik vertrek deze morgen opnieuw naar Luweero. Daar heeft Evelyn Nambooze een demonstratietuin.Nu ben ik om 11.00 uur in Luweero.Ik laat me door een boda boda man naar het projekt brengen. Ik heb ook een koffer met materialen bij. Boerinnen in haar omgeving komen elke zaterdag bij haar om nieuwe dingen te leren. Evelyn zorgt ook soms voor plantmateriaal. Patrick de man van Evelyn gaat met mij bij diversen deelnemers langs bij hen thuis. Daar zijn de resultaten te zien wat ze hebben geleerd. Als we om drie uur weer terug zijn heeft Evelyn het eten klaar. Ook zijn de deelnemers om drie uur uitgenodigd om kennis te maken met mij. Eerst doet Evelyn haar verhaal. Daarna ben ik aan de beurt om te vertellen hoe de samenwerking met Evelyn is begonnen en waartoe dat heeft geleid. Ook laat Evelyn en Patrick de zaden en materialen zien aan de deelnemers. Tegen vijven vertrek ik weer richting Kampala waar het donker is alsik aankom.
Morgen nog een paar kleine dingen en dan heb ik mijn programma afgewerkt. Zodoende vlieg ik morgenavond 23.30 ugandese tijd terug naar nederland. Ik ben dan zondagmorgen rond 6 uur nederlandse tijd weer op schiphol. Uganda ligt kwa tijd 2 uur voor op ons. Het was zeker een geslaagde reis. Ik heb veel kunnen doen en zien en ook veel gehoord. Hiermee gaan we in nederland mee verder om diversen projekten te blijven ondersteunen.

[message] => Do.18 jan. In de morgen as ik bij het ziekenhuis op de binnenplaats op mijn wifi plek zit word ik verrast met muziek. Het blijkt iedere donderdagmorgen beginnen ze hier met gezang en gebed. De afspraak was 9.00 uur vertrekken. Dat word 10 uur. Justine is niet van de tijd. Het verkeer zit ik niet mee met als gevolg dat we ergens in de middag in Luweero zijn. Dan rijden we met de boda boda naar haar plek in Luweero. Dat denk ik tenminste. Maar onderweg krijg ik al het gevoel dat er iets niet klopt. Uiteindelijk stoppen we ergens in de middle of nowhere maar niet bij haar plek. Ik vraag wat dit is. Hier leent ze een stuk land van 8 hectare. Hier wil ze groenten en andere dingen gaan verbouwen. Het is nu nog wildernis. Ik vraag haar of ze daar geld voor heeft. Nee natuurlijk niet. Ze heeft hier 1500 euro voor betaald voor drie jaar. Maar ze heeft geen geld om een fatsoenlijke telefoon te kopen zodat ze normaal kan communiceren wat ze afgelopen jaar zeker niet heeft gedaan.Ik laat haar weten hier geen cent in te investeren.
Ze heeft hier nooit iets over verteld. Ook de stichting Imikaaa die haar hoofdzakelijk ondersteunen heeft onlangs op een bericht van mij om eventueel samen te werken pas na ruim 6 weken gereageerd. Ik heb Justin ter plaatse verteld dat ze niet meer op onze steun hoeft te rekenen. Deze manier is zeker niet onze werkwijze. Er gaan we meer projekten afvallen. We hebben in ieder geval vier hele mooie projekten waar we mee door kunnen.

[message] => Wo. 17 jan. Kato devis had mij uitgenodigd op de universiteit om mijn kluitjes pers te demonstreren en tekst en uitleg te geven over de nederlandse zaden. Zelf was hij verhinderd maar ik werd opgevangen door Dr John en zijn medewerkster.Hij heeft mij het een en ander laten zien en verteld. Ik heb de werking van de kluitjes gedemonstreerd. Het was er rustig aangezien het nog vakantie is. Op de terugweg mijn kluitjespersen opgehaald die ik had laten bijmaken. Ze zijn goed gelukt. De universiteit ligt vlak na de evenaar. Dus ik heb me daar eerst door de boda boda laten afzetten. Een mooi monument en je kunt ook nog eten daar.. De rest met het taxibusje terug.

[message] => Di.16 jan. Tien jaar geleden was dit mijn tweede projekt in Uganda. Ik ben daar toen 5 weken geweest om hoofdzakelijk tuinwerkzaamheden te doen..Dit projekt was opgezet door Petra en Nico van Peppel en hun organisatie Bluesky. Zij hebben in 10 jaar tijd een prachtig projekt neergezet dat nu zelfstandig draait in de middle of nowhere. Het laatste stuk naar deze plek loop ik altijd als ik er naar toe ga. Ongeveer een half uur wat slingerend en klimmen en dalen. Ik vind het nog steeds de mooiste route die ik heb gelopen hier in Uganda. Onderweg passeer ik een prachtige nieuwe school die er 4 jaar geleden nog niet stond. Ook particulier gebouwd.
Terug in Kampala doe ik nog wat boodschappen voor de komende dagen.

[message] => Ma. 15 jan In 2020 hebben we 500 bamboeplanten gekocht en die heeft Evelyn destijds geplant. De bedoeling was om steeds te scheuren en zo dus te vermeerderen. Maar door corana is dat niet doorgegaan. Ik ga vandaag kijken in Kigoogwa vlak bij het ouderlijkhuis van Evelyn. Demoeder en een broervav Evelyn lopen mee. We passeren ook nog een zus van Evelyn met haar gezin.. De vraag is of Bamboovillage hier iets mee kan. We moeten ook nog even wat eten bij de zus.
Daarna weer terug naar Kampala.
s Morgens ontmoet ik ook nog een duitse vrouw op het binnenterrein. Ze is een beetje radeloos als ik haar aanspreek. Ze wil hier werken of vrijwilligerswerk doen. Maar dat lukt niet al te best. Ik heb gezegd dat ik eens zal kijken wat ik kan doen. Bij Home Sweet Home in de buurt van jinja kunnen ze altijd vrijwilligers gebruiken. Ik heb ze gemaild en het whatsapp nummer ook doorgegeven. We wachten even af waar dit toe leid. Ik heb goede hoop voor haar. Ze heeft al in diversen Afrikaanse landen gewerkt.

[message] => Zo. 14 jan. Ook deze morgen even wachten tot de bui over is. Eerst even een kop koffie nuttigen 100 meter verderop. Hier ontmoet ik eerst Racheal met haar dochter Jackline. Zij komt de cacao bonen ophalen want ze gaat morgen weer naar het Mabira Forest om op haar grond samen met haar broer de tuin verder te ontwikkelen. Op weg naar de taxistandplaats is de weg droog. Ik ga vandaag langs bij Dr Seruyange en zijn vrouw Geraldine. Zij zijn na hun pensioen een boerderij begonnen. In 2015 kwam ik daar voor het eerst omdat ik op een ander projekt niet terecht kon omdat er niemand engels sprak.
In eerste instantie dacht ik wat heb ik hier te zoeken. Zij zijn niet mijn doelgroep. Maar al snel bleek dat zij ook veel voor de lokale bevolking.
Op deze plek heb ik ook Evelyn ontmoet. Ik heb haar vanafdie tijd ondersteund met diversen dingen met als resultaat dat ze nu een demonstratietuin runt en andere mensen traint in het verbouwen van groenten.Bij aankomst is alleen Geraldine thuis. Ik word zoals altijd hartelijk ontvangen. We praten wat bij na vier jaar. Even later komt ook Doctor Henri thuis. We hebben vanalles te bespreken. Dan volgt de heerlijke lunch. Dan laat ik de nodige foto s zien van mijn werk in Uganda en ook de nodige nederlandse foto s
Dan is het tijd om een rondje door hun tuin te doen. We passeren de passievruchten , bananen, mais en de pineappel. Ze hebben de nodige camera s hangen voor de beveiliging. Dus voor je op hun plaats bent dan ben je al geregistreerd.
Weer binnen geef ik ze nogde nodige zaden uit nederland. Tegen vijven is het weer tijd om naar Kampala te vertrekken.

[message] => Za. 13 jan. De bijeenkomst van Bamboovillage begint rond tien uur. Henri Potze geeft hier vandaag aan genodigden een lezing over zijn projekt met Bamboe.Zijn bedrijf berekend ook de voetafdruk die bedrijven maken tijdens het produceren van hun produkten. En hoe ze dit weer kunnen compenseren.Op bamboovillage.nl valt daar vanalles over te lezen. Aan het einde rond half een is er nog een gezamelijke lunch.
Vervolgens ga ik langs bij de plek waar ze mijn kluitjespers zouden namaken. Maar ze zijn nog niet klaar.
Bij mijn verblijf zaai ik nog wat cacaobonen in zakjes want de trays zijn te klein. De rest bewaar ik voor andere projekten.

Ook bij het projekt Home Sweet Home heb ik in januari snijbonen zaad achter gelaten. En ook daar kunnen ze de eerste oogsten. Het projekt van Evelyn in Luweero hebben we afgelopen tijd nog verder financieel ondersteund zodat zij haar projekt verder kan ontwikkelen. Onlangs heeft zij bezoek gehad van het nationaal Ugandees NGO forum. Zij waren zeer onder de indruk.

[message] => We hebben vandaag Michael bijgeschoold, morgen beginnen de metingen van de kinderen.
We zijn erg 'warm en blij ontvangen' door het lieve team van de Joanne Foundation hier in Ndegeya.
We zijn al bijna een onderdeel van de bevolking, die na de oogtest een bril hebben kregen en ons er nu speciaal voor opzoeken om te bedanken.

[message] => do. 1 feb. We hebben nog bijna dagelijks contact met diversen projekten in Uganda. Ook het ontbinden van de overeenkomst met Sam en Wilde Ganzen is gaande. Het geld dat hierdoor vrij komt kunnen we mooi voor andere projekten gebruiken die wel duurzaam zijn. Evelyn is nog volop bezig met haar projekt om het beter te maken. Ook Kaggwa Fred in Kateete is bezig met een aanvraag bij Wilde Ganzen. Hij gaat Jackfruit in combinatie met bananenbomen aanplanten wat veel voedsel oplevert.
Kato Devis zal zaterdag zijn tweede kluitjespers ophalen in Kampala bij het Catholic training centrum. De eerste zaden die we bij Home Sweet Home hadden gezaaid zijn goed uitgekomen. Ook Geraldine heeft haar tuin met annanas planten er weer mooi bij liggen

[message] => Za 20 jan. Vanmorgen eerst nog wat boodschappen gedaan. Daarna naar Kawanda dat is iets ten noorden van Kampala. Daar is een onderzoekcentrum op het gebied van tuinbouw. Zuid Korea doet hier al jaren bepaalde onderzoeken op het gebied van groententeelt.
Kopia heet de organisatie. Ik ben hier al meerdere malen geweest. Het is rustig op zaterdag maar de bedrijfsleider woont op het complex. Ik vraag een paar voorbijgangers of ik iemand kan spreken en gelijk komt de bedrijfsleider in zicht. Ik vertel dat ik wat zaden uit nederland bij heb. Hij is wel geinteresserd en laat mij de tuin zien. Als we de tuin weer uitlopen zien we de grote baas uit Zuid Korea zijn Kantoor inlopen. De bedrijfsleider vraagt of ik hem wel wil zien. Ja natuurlijk. Hij gaat het kantoor binnen en verteld zijn baas over het bezoek. Ik mag verder komen in zijn kantoor. Als ik vertel dat ik uit nederland kom word hij zelfs een beetje enthousiast. Hij kent de universiteit van Wageningen ook. Ik laat de zaden zien en handel het verder met de bedrijfsleider af. Hij gaat de zaden zeker proberen en zal contact houden. Mooi resultaat weer.
Dan terug naar Kampala. Wat eten mijn koffer inpakken en mijn verblijf afrekenen. Dan vertrek ik naar de taxiplaats voor Entebbe.
Ik ben om17.30 op het vliegveld. Wel wat vroeg maar kan hier nu mooi mijn verhaal schrijven.

[message] => Vr. 19 jan. Ik vertrek deze morgen opnieuw naar Luweero. Daar heeft Evelyn Nambooze een demonstratietuin.Nu ben ik om 11.00 uur in Luweero.Ik laat me door een boda boda man naar het projekt brengen. Ik heb ook een koffer met materialen bij. Boerinnen in haar omgeving komen elke zaterdag bij haar om nieuwe dingen te leren. Evelyn zorgt ook soms voor plantmateriaal. Patrick de man van Evelyn gaat met mij bij diversen deelnemers langs bij hen thuis. Daar zijn de resultaten te zien wat ze hebben geleerd. Als we om drie uur weer terug zijn heeft Evelyn het eten klaar. Ook zijn de deelnemers om drie uur uitgenodigd om kennis te maken met mij. Eerst doet Evelyn haar verhaal. Daarna ben ik aan de beurt om te vertellen hoe de samenwerking met Evelyn is begonnen en waartoe dat heeft geleid. Ook laat Evelyn en Patrick de zaden en materialen zien aan de deelnemers. Tegen vijven vertrek ik weer richting Kampala waar het donker is alsik aankom.
Morgen nog een paar kleine dingen en dan heb ik mijn programma afgewerkt. Zodoende vlieg ik morgenavond 23.30 ugandese tijd terug naar nederland. Ik ben dan zondagmorgen rond 6 uur nederlandse tijd weer op schiphol. Uganda ligt kwa tijd 2 uur voor op ons. Het was zeker een geslaagde reis. Ik heb veel kunnen doen en zien en ook veel gehoord. Hiermee gaan we in nederland mee verder om diversen projekten te blijven ondersteunen.

[message] => Do.18 jan. In de morgen as ik bij het ziekenhuis op de binnenplaats op mijn wifi plek zit word ik verrast met muziek. Het blijkt iedere donderdagmorgen beginnen ze hier met gezang en gebed. De afspraak was 9.00 uur vertrekken. Dat word 10 uur. Justine is niet van de tijd. Het verkeer zit ik niet mee met als gevolg dat we ergens in de middag in Luweero zijn. Dan rijden we met de boda boda naar haar plek in Luweero. Dat denk ik tenminste. Maar onderweg krijg ik al het gevoel dat er iets niet klopt. Uiteindelijk stoppen we ergens in de middle of nowhere maar niet bij haar plek. Ik vraag wat dit is. Hier leent ze een stuk land van 8 hectare. Hier wil ze groenten en andere dingen gaan verbouwen. Het is nu nog wildernis. Ik vraag haar of ze daar geld voor heeft. Nee natuurlijk niet. Ze heeft hier 1500 euro voor betaald voor drie jaar. Maar ze heeft geen geld om een fatsoenlijke telefoon te kopen zodat ze normaal kan communiceren wat ze afgelopen jaar zeker niet heeft gedaan.Ik laat haar weten hier geen cent in te investeren.
Ze heeft hier nooit iets over verteld. Ook de stichting Imikaaa die haar hoofdzakelijk ondersteunen heeft onlangs op een bericht van mij om eventueel samen te werken pas na ruim 6 weken gereageerd. Ik heb Justin ter plaatse verteld dat ze niet meer op onze steun hoeft te rekenen. Deze manier is zeker niet onze werkwijze. Er gaan we meer projekten afvallen. We hebben in ieder geval vier hele mooie projekten waar we mee door kunnen.

[message] => Wo. 17 jan. Kato devis had mij uitgenodigd op de universiteit om mijn kluitjes pers te demonstreren en tekst en uitleg te geven over de nederlandse zaden. Zelf was hij verhinderd maar ik werd opgevangen door Dr John en zijn medewerkster.Hij heeft mij het een en ander laten zien en verteld. Ik heb de werking van de kluitjes gedemonstreerd. Het was er rustig aangezien het nog vakantie is. Op de terugweg mijn kluitjespersen opgehaald die ik had laten bijmaken. Ze zijn goed gelukt. De universiteit ligt vlak na de evenaar. Dus ik heb me daar eerst door de boda boda laten afzetten. Een mooi monument en je kunt ook nog eten daar.. De rest met het taxibusje terug.

[message] => Di.16 jan. Tien jaar geleden was dit mijn tweede projekt in Uganda. Ik ben daar toen 5 weken geweest om hoofdzakelijk tuinwerkzaamheden te doen..Dit projekt was opgezet door Petra en Nico van Peppel en hun organisatie Bluesky. Zij hebben in 10 jaar tijd een prachtig projekt neergezet dat nu zelfstandig draait in de middle of nowhere. Het laatste stuk naar deze plek loop ik altijd als ik er naar toe ga. Ongeveer een half uur wat slingerend en klimmen en dalen. Ik vind het nog steeds de mooiste route die ik heb gelopen hier in Uganda. Onderweg passeer ik een prachtige nieuwe school die er 4 jaar geleden nog niet stond. Ook particulier gebouwd.
Terug in Kampala doe ik nog wat boodschappen voor de komende dagen.

[message] => Ma. 15 jan In 2020 hebben we 500 bamboeplanten gekocht en die heeft Evelyn destijds geplant. De bedoeling was om steeds te scheuren en zo dus te vermeerderen. Maar door corana is dat niet doorgegaan. Ik ga vandaag kijken in Kigoogwa vlak bij het ouderlijkhuis van Evelyn. Demoeder en een broervav Evelyn lopen mee. We passeren ook nog een zus van Evelyn met haar gezin.. De vraag is of Bamboovillage hier iets mee kan. We moeten ook nog even wat eten bij de zus.
Daarna weer terug naar Kampala.
s Morgens ontmoet ik ook nog een duitse vrouw op het binnenterrein. Ze is een beetje radeloos als ik haar aanspreek. Ze wil hier werken of vrijwilligerswerk doen. Maar dat lukt niet al te best. Ik heb gezegd dat ik eens zal kijken wat ik kan doen. Bij Home Sweet Home in de buurt van jinja kunnen ze altijd vrijwilligers gebruiken. Ik heb ze gemaild en het whatsapp nummer ook doorgegeven. We wachten even af waar dit toe leid. Ik heb goede hoop voor haar. Ze heeft al in diversen Afrikaanse landen gewerkt.

[message] => Zo. 14 jan. Ook deze morgen even wachten tot de bui over is. Eerst even een kop koffie nuttigen 100 meter verderop. Hier ontmoet ik eerst Racheal met haar dochter Jackline. Zij komt de cacao bonen ophalen want ze gaat morgen weer naar het Mabira Forest om op haar grond samen met haar broer de tuin verder te ontwikkelen. Op weg naar de taxistandplaats is de weg droog. Ik ga vandaag langs bij Dr Seruyange en zijn vrouw Geraldine. Zij zijn na hun pensioen een boerderij begonnen. In 2015 kwam ik daar voor het eerst omdat ik op een ander projekt niet terecht kon omdat er niemand engels sprak.
In eerste instantie dacht ik wat heb ik hier te zoeken. Zij zijn niet mijn doelgroep. Maar al snel bleek dat zij ook veel voor de lokale bevolking.
Op deze plek heb ik ook Evelyn ontmoet. Ik heb haar vanafdie tijd ondersteund met diversen dingen met als resultaat dat ze nu een demonstratietuin runt en andere mensen traint in het verbouwen van groenten.Bij aankomst is alleen Geraldine thuis. Ik word zoals altijd hartelijk ontvangen. We praten wat bij na vier jaar. Even later komt ook Doctor Henri thuis. We hebben vanalles te bespreken. Dan volgt de heerlijke lunch. Dan laat ik de nodige foto s zien van mijn werk in Uganda en ook de nodige nederlandse foto s
Dan is het tijd om een rondje door hun tuin te doen. We passeren de passievruchten , bananen, mais en de pineappel. Ze hebben de nodige camera s hangen voor de beveiliging. Dus voor je op hun plaats bent dan ben je al geregistreerd.
Weer binnen geef ik ze nogde nodige zaden uit nederland. Tegen vijven is het weer tijd om naar Kampala te vertrekken.

[message] => Za. 13 jan. De bijeenkomst van Bamboovillage begint rond tien uur. Henri Potze geeft hier vandaag aan genodigden een lezing over zijn projekt met Bamboe.Zijn bedrijf berekend ook de voetafdruk die bedrijven maken tijdens het produceren van hun produkten. En hoe ze dit weer kunnen compenseren.Op bamboovillage.nl valt daar vanalles over te lezen. Aan het einde rond half een is er nog een gezamelijke lunch.
Vervolgens ga ik langs bij de plek waar ze mijn kluitjespers zouden namaken. Maar ze zijn nog niet klaar.
Bij mijn verblijf zaai ik nog wat cacaobonen in zakjes want de trays zijn te klein. De rest bewaar ik voor andere projekten.
Dan nog even Bij Justin lags om af te spreken wanneer we naar haar projekt in Luweero gaan. Dat word donderdag als er niets tussen komt.

Ook bij het projekt Home Sweet Home heb ik in januari snijbonen zaad achter gelaten. En ook daar kunnen ze de eerste oogsten. Het projekt van Evelyn in Luweero hebben we afgelopen tijd nog verder financieel ondersteund zodat zij haar projekt verder kan ontwikkelen. Onlangs heeft zij bezoek gehad van het nationaal Ugandees NGO forum. Zij waren zeer onder de indruk.

[message] => do. 1 feb. We hebben nog bijna dagelijks contact met diversen projekten in Uganda. Ook het ontbinden van de overeenkomst met Sam en Wilde Ganzen is gaande. Het geld dat hierdoor vrij komt kunnen we mooi voor andere projekten gebruiken die wel duurzaam zijn. Evelyn is nog volop bezig met haar projekt om het beter te maken. Ook Kaggwa Fred in Kateete is bezig met een aanvraag bij Wilde Ganzen. Hij gaat Jackfruit in combinatie met bananenbomen aanplanten wat veel voedsel oplevert.
Kato Devis zal zaterdag zijn tweede kluitjespers ophalen in Kampala bij het Catholic training centrum. De eerste zaden die we bij Home Sweet Home hadden gezaaid zijn goed uitgekomen. Ook Geraldine heeft haar tuin met annanas planten er weer mooi bij liggen

[message] => Za 20 jan. Vanmorgen eerst nog wat boodschappen gedaan. Daarna naar Kawanda dat is iets ten noorden van Kampala. Daar is een onderzoekcentrum op het gebied van tuinbouw. Zuid Korea doet hier al jaren bepaalde onderzoeken op het gebied van groententeelt.
Kopia heet de organisatie. Ik ben hier al meerdere malen geweest. Het is rustig op zaterdag maar de bedrijfsleider woont op het complex. Ik vraag een paar voorbijgangers of ik iemand kan spreken en gelijk komt de bedrijfsleider in zicht. Ik vertel dat ik wat zaden uit nederland bij heb. Hij is wel geinteresserd en laat mij de tuin zien. Als we de tuin weer uitlopen zien we de grote baas uit Zuid Korea zijn Kantoor inlopen. De bedrijfsleider vraagt of ik hem wel wil zien. Ja natuurlijk. Hij gaat het kantoor binnen en verteld zijn baas over het bezoek. Ik mag verder komen in zijn kantoor. Als ik vertel dat ik uit nederland kom word hij zelfs een beetje enthousiast. Hij kent de universiteit van Wageningen ook. Ik laat de zaden zien en handel het verder met de bedrijfsleider af. Hij gaat de zaden zeker proberen en zal contact houden. Mooi resultaat weer.
Dan terug naar Kampala. Wat eten mijn koffer inpakken en mijn verblijf afrekenen. Dan vertrek ik naar de taxiplaats voor Entebbe.
Ik ben om17.30 op het vliegveld. Wel wat vroeg maar kan hier nu mooi mijn verhaal schrijven.

[message] => Vr. 19 jan. Ik vertrek deze morgen opnieuw naar Luweero. Daar heeft Evelyn Nambooze een demonstratietuin.Nu ben ik om 11.00 uur in Luweero.Ik laat me door een boda boda man naar het projekt brengen. Ik heb ook een koffer met materialen bij. Boerinnen in haar omgeving komen elke zaterdag bij haar om nieuwe dingen te leren. Evelyn zorgt ook soms voor plantmateriaal. Patrick de man van Evelyn gaat met mij bij diversen deelnemers langs bij hen thuis. Daar zijn de resultaten te zien wat ze hebben geleerd. Als we om drie uur weer terug zijn heeft Evelyn het eten klaar. Ook zijn de deelnemers om drie uur uitgenodigd om kennis te maken met mij. Eerst doet Evelyn haar verhaal. Daarna ben ik aan de beurt om te vertellen hoe de samenwerking met Evelyn is begonnen en waartoe dat heeft geleid. Ook laat Evelyn en Patrick de zaden en materialen zien aan de deelnemers. Tegen vijven vertrek ik weer richting Kampala waar het donker is alsik aankom.
Morgen nog een paar kleine dingen en dan heb ik mijn programma afgewerkt. Zodoende vlieg ik morgenavond 23.30 ugandese tijd terug naar nederland. Ik ben dan zondagmorgen rond 6 uur nederlandse tijd weer op schiphol. Uganda ligt kwa tijd 2 uur voor op ons. Het was zeker een geslaagde reis. Ik heb veel kunnen doen en zien en ook veel gehoord. Hiermee gaan we in nederland mee verder om diversen projekten te blijven ondersteunen.

[message] => Do.18 jan. In de morgen as ik bij het ziekenhuis op de binnenplaats op mijn wifi plek zit word ik verrast met muziek. Het blijkt iedere donderdagmorgen beginnen ze hier met gezang en gebed. De afspraak was 9.00 uur vertrekken. Dat word 10 uur. Justine is niet van de tijd. Het verkeer zit ik niet mee met als gevolg dat we ergens in de middag in Luweero zijn. Dan rijden we met de boda boda naar haar plek in Luweero. Dat denk ik tenminste. Maar onderweg krijg ik al het gevoel dat er iets niet klopt. Uiteindelijk stoppen we ergens in de middle of nowhere maar niet bij haar plek. Ik vraag wat dit is. Hier leent ze een stuk land van 8 hectare. Hier wil ze groenten en andere dingen gaan verbouwen. Het is nu nog wildernis. Ik vraag haar of ze daar geld voor heeft. Nee natuurlijk niet. Ze heeft hier 1500 euro voor betaald voor drie jaar. Maar ze heeft geen geld om een fatsoenlijke telefoon te kopen zodat ze normaal kan communiceren wat ze afgelopen jaar zeker niet heeft gedaan.Ik laat haar weten hier geen cent in te investeren.
Ze heeft hier nooit iets over verteld. Ook de stichting Imikaaa die haar hoofdzakelijk ondersteunen heeft onlangs op een bericht van mij om eventueel samen te werken pas na ruim 6 weken gereageerd. Ik heb Justin ter plaatse verteld dat ze niet meer op onze steun hoeft te rekenen. Deze manier is zeker niet onze werkwijze. Er gaan we meer projekten afvallen. We hebben in ieder geval vier hele mooie projekten waar we mee door kunnen.

[message] => Wo. 17 jan. Kato devis had mij uitgenodigd op de universiteit om mijn kluitjes pers te demonstreren en tekst en uitleg te geven over de nederlandse zaden. Zelf was hij verhinderd maar ik werd opgevangen door Dr John en zijn medewerkster.Hij heeft mij het een en ander laten zien en verteld. Ik heb de werking van de kluitjes gedemonstreerd. Het was er rustig aangezien het nog vakantie is. Op de terugweg mijn kluitjespersen opgehaald die ik had laten bijmaken. Ze zijn goed gelukt. De universiteit ligt vlak na de evenaar. [message] => Di.16 jan. Tien jaar geleden was dit mijn tweede projekt in Uganda. Ik ben daar toen 5 weken geweest om hoofdzakelijk tuinwerkzaamheden te doen..Dit projekt was opgezet door Petra en Nico van Peppel en hun organisatie Bluesky. Zij hebben in 10 jaar tijd een prachtig projekt neergezet dat nu zelfstandig draait in de middle of nowhere. Het laatste stuk naar deze plek loop ik altijd als ik er naar toe ga. Ongeveer een half uur wat slingerend en klimmen en dalen. Ik vind het nog steeds de mooiste route die ik heb gelopen hier in Uganda. Onderweg passeer ik een prachtige nieuwe school die er 4 jaar geleden nog niet stond. Ook particulier gebouwd.
Terug in Kampala doe ik nog wat boodschappen voor de komende dagen.

[message] => Ma. 15 jan In 2020 hebben we 500 bamboeplanten gekocht en die heeft Evelyn destijds geplant. De bedoeling was om steeds te scheuren en zo dus te vermeerderen. Maar door corana is dat niet doorgegaan. Ik ga vandaag kijken in Kigoogwa vlak bij het ouderlijkhuis van Evelyn. Demoeder en een broervav Evelyn lopen mee. We passeren ook nog een zus van Evelyn met haar gezin.. De vraag is of Bamboovillage hier iets mee kan. We moeten ook nog even wat eten bij de zus.
Daarna weer terug naar Kampala.
s Morgens ontmoet ik ook nog een duitse vrouw op het binnenterrein. Ze is een beetje radeloos als ik haar aanspreek. Ze wil hier werken of vrijwilligerswerk doen. Maar dat lukt niet al te best. Ik heb gezegd dat ik eens zal kijken wat ik kan doen. Bij Home Sweet Home in de buurt van jinja kunnen ze altijd vrijwilligers gebruiken. Ik heb ze gemaild en het whatsapp nummer ook doorgegeven. We wachten even af waar dit toe leid. Ik heb goede hoop voor haar. Ze heeft al in diversen Afrikaanse landen gewerkt.

[message] => Zo. 14 jan. Ook deze morgen even wachten tot de bui over is. Eerst even een kop koffie nuttigen 100 meter verderop. Hier ontmoet ik eerst Racheal met haar dochter Jackline. Zij komt de cacao bonen ophalen want ze gaat morgen weer naar het Mabira Forest om op haar grond samen met haar broer de tuin verder te ontwikkelen. Op weg naar de taxistandplaats is de weg droog. Ik ga vandaag langs bij Dr Seruyange en zijn vrouw Geraldine. Zij zijn na hun pensioen een boerderij begonnen. In 2015 kwam ik daar voor het eerst omdat ik op een ander projekt niet terecht kon omdat er niemand engels sprak.
In eerste instantie dacht ik wat heb ik hier te zoeken. Zij zijn niet mijn doelgroep. Maar al snel bleek dat zij ook veel voor de lokale bevolking.
Op deze plek heb ik ook Evelyn ontmoet. Ik heb haar vanafdie tijd ondersteund met diversen dingen met als resultaat dat ze nu een demonstratietuin runt en andere mensen traint in het verbouwen van groenten.Bij aankomst is alleen Geraldine thuis. Ik word zoals altijd hartelijk ontvangen. We praten wat bij na vier jaar. Even later komt ook Doctor Henri thuis. We hebben vanalles te bespreken. Dan volgt de heerlijke lunch. Dan laat ik de nodige foto s zien van mijn werk in Uganda en ook de nodige nederlandse foto s
Dan is het tijd om een rondje door hun tuin te doen. We passeren de passievruchten , bananen, mais en de pineappel. Ze hebben de nodige camera s hangen voor de beveiliging. Dus voor je op hun plaats bent dan ben je al geregistreerd.
Weer binnen geef ik ze nogde nodige zaden uit nederland. Tegen vijven is het weer tijd om naar Kampala te vertrekken.

[message] => Za. 13 jan. De bijeenkomst van Bamboovillage begint rond tien uur. Henri Potze geeft hier vandaag aan genodigden een lezing over zijn projekt met Bamboe.Zijn bedrijf berekend ook de voetafdruk die bedrijven maken tijdens het produceren van hun produkten. En hoe ze dit weer kunnen compenseren.Op bamboovillage.nl valt daar vanalles over te lezen. Aan het einde rond half een is er nog een gezamelijke lunch.
Vervolgens ga ik langs bij de plek waar ze mijn kluitjespers zouden namaken. Maar ze zijn nog niet klaar.
Bij mijn verblijf zaai ik nog wat cacaobonen in zakjes want de trays zijn te klein. De rest bewaar ik voor andere projekten.
Dan nog even Bij Justin lags om af te spreken wanneer we naar haar projekt in Luweero gaan. Dat word donderdag als er niets tussen komt.
