[message] => Drijvend op m’n luchtbedje schrok ik wakker van het geluid van een woeste branding. Ik bevond me op zo’n 50 meter van een kustlijn die ik nog nooit had gezien, met daarvoor metershoge golven die braken op een messcherp koraalrif. Tegen de stroming in proberen te peddelen had inmiddels geen zin meer, dus ik zou het koraal op de een of andere manier moeten zien te ontwijken. Om alles nog een stukje erger te maken doemde er naast me opeens grote donkere vinnen uit het water op die om me heen begonnen te cirkelen. Tijd voor actie dus, ik moest hier zo snel mogelijk weg. Ik zag m’n ontsnappingsmogelijkheid bij een grote golf die aankwam zetten. Ik begon met de golf mee te peddelen en toen ik eenmaal op snelheid was sprong ik op mijn luchtbed en surfte ik zo over het koraalrif heen.
Eenmaal gestrand op het onbekende zand kon ik me maar één ding afvragen… Waar de FAK ben ik?!? Hier blijven zitten had geen zin, ik moest op zoek naar beschaving om zo uiteindelijk mijn weg terug te kunnen vinden naar Wet & Wild.
Na een uur paraderen over het strand kwam ik een idyllisch strandtentje tegen. Meer dan een houten blokhutje was het niet, maar er stond een amateuristische tekening van een cocktail op de zijkant. Dit was mijn redding dacht ik. In het tentje stond een klein mannetje dat me gelukkig gratis een fles water gaf, ik had natuurlijk geen geld bij me.
De man maakte me duidelijk dat ik in Venezuela was. Ik was dus blijkbaar in slaap gevallen op m’n luchtbed en naar Venezuela gedreven. Kut dus, hoe kom ik nou weer terug dacht ik? Geen passpoort, geen geld, niks (met uitzondering van m’n standaard kit: Knife, Flint and a Waterbottle). Ik bedacht een ingenieus plan, maar hiervoor zou ik eerst de grens met Colombia over moeten steken.
Voor me ruste enkele kilometers diep regenwoud met alle gevaren van dien. Eenmaal op pad kwamen al snel de problemen. Bij de eerste rivier die ik moest oversteken lagen zo’n 1000 kaaimannen aan de overkant. Ik probeerde stilletjes weg te sluipen maar ze hadden me natuurlijk allang gehoord. De kaaimannen kwamen als hooligans op me af. Ik rende net zo lang totdat ik de laatste volharde kaaiman eindelijk van me af had geschud. Eenmaal weer diep in de jungle hoorde ik een hard schel gepiep. Nieuwsgierig besloot ik op het geluid af te gaan en trof ik 3 jongen Ara’s aan. Ze waren waarschijnlijk gevallen want een meter of twintig boven me zaten de ouders hevig krijsend bij het nest. Voorzichtig pakte ik de beestjes op en begon omhoog te klimmen. Het was zwaar en omdat ik maar 1 hand ter beschikking had moest ik vogelspinnen en kleine slangen die ik tijdens mijn klim tegenkwam dood bijten met mijn tanden. Eenmaal boven bedankte de grote Ara’s me en vroegen of ik het leuk vond om de kinderen te voeren. Natuurlijk! Het was een magisch moment. Hierna zei ik de Ara’s gedag en klom terug naar beneden waar ik in een zwerm vleesetende vliegen terecht kwam. Het waren er minstens een miljoen en ze begonnen onmiddellijk te bijten. Binnen een minuut zat heel mijn lichaam onder de jeukende wonden en het enige wat ik kon doen om m’n leven te redden was in de rivier te springen. Eenmaal in het water voelde ik een soort mes in mijn been snijden. Het deed ongelofelijk veel pijn en die pijn promoveerde al gauw in doodsangsten wanneer ik in het volledig bloedgekleurde water zag wat voor een beest mij had aangevallen. Het was een enorme schildpad van zeker honderd jaar oud met nagels zo groot als aardappelschilmesjes! Hij keek mij met een dodelijke blik recht in mijn ogen aan en begon zelfs te blazen. Weg zwemmen had geen zin want dat beest was minstens 10x sneller dan ik in het water en dus zat er niks anders op dan aan te vallen. Vlug dook ik onder water en greep ik -na een tweede aanval van het monster die ik ternauwernood kon ontwijken- naar zijn schild. Ik greep hem vlak boven zijn kop vast en na een stevig potje stoeien lukte het me uiteindelijk om ook de andere kant van zijn schild vast te grijpen. De schildpad kon geen kant meer op maar ik ook niet! Ik besloot de schildpad als buitenboordmotor te gebruiken en duwde hem in de richting van Colombia. De schildpad begon te zwemmen en na twee en een half uur toen ik de zoveelste boomstronk ontweken had, zag ik het… Colombia! Het stond er ook echt. Met bord zo’n bordje “Welkom in Colombia” midden in de Jungle! Best raar dacht ik bij mezelf om hier zo’n bordje neer te zetten maar toen bedacht ik me dat die Colombianen best territoriaal kunnen zijn. Afijn, ik kon me er niet druk om maken, ik had Colombia bereikt.
Ik liet de schildpad los en begon als een malle richting de kant te zwemmen. Toen ik de kant bereikte doemde zich daar het volgende probleem alweer op. Never Easy dacht ik bij mijzelf… Op het strand zaten een kaaiman en Capibara gebroederlijk naast elkaar op de oever (hoe dat kan weet ik ook niet maar geloof me, het is écht waar!).
De Capibara, een soort cavia ter grote van een buffel, blafte naar me en liet zijn tanden zien terwijl de kaaiman met open bek op me af kwam rennen. In een reflex sprong ik in de lucht en toen ik boven de kaaiman zweefde draaide ik mij in de lucht om en dook op de kaaiman. Met de snelheid van een poema greep ik zijn staart en tilde hem daaraan de lucht in. Dat was nog niet zo makkelijk, de kaaiman was op zijn minst twee meter lang en woog zeker honderd kilo zwaar. Alsof het een klein kind was begon ik de kaaiman in het rond te zwaaien en toen ik op volle snelheid was mikte ik het dier vlak voor de poten van een zwarte Jaguar die het gevecht lekkerbekkend zat te bekijken.
De jaguar dook op de kaaiman en ik draaide me naar de Capibara toe. Hij keek me heel even aan, blafte nog een keer maar toen ik terug gromde ging hij er met de staart tussen de benen vandoor. Eindelijk met mijn voeten op Colombiaanse grond keek ik naar de zwarte jaguar die op het hoofd van de kaaiman kauwde. De Jaguar gaf me een alleszeggende knipoog. Zo van: Jij en ik, wij zijn koningen van de jungle.
Ik kon nog maar aan één ding denken, Curaçao! Want over een paar uurtjes begon Wet & Wild al, het beste relaxte strandfeest wat je ooit hebt meegemaakt. Ik vervolgde mijn reis door de jungle richting beschaving. Na een klein half uurtje hoorde ik een angstaanjagend geluid wat ik normaal alleen in films heb gehoord of op m’n playstation. Klick-klack… Het geluid van een herladende AK-47 klonk op een paar meter achter me. De man die achter me stond zag er uit als een doorgewinterde vietcongstrijder, alleen dan zonder spleetogen. Met een moeilijk te verstaan Engels met een zwaar Spaans accent werd mij gevraagd wat ik hier deed.
Ik deed mijn verhaal en wonderbaarlijk genoeg geloofde de man mij en had blijkbaar zoveel respect voor mijn avontuur dat hij besloot me te helpen. Na een half uur met hem door de jungle te hebben gestruind vertelde hij dat hij bij de FARC zat en dat hij hier een cocaïne plantage bewaakt. De aardige man wees me uiteindelijk in de richting van een kustdorp.
Eenmaal aangekomen in het dorpje zag ik al snel een bekend gezicht. De man van de Floating Market waar ik elke ochtend langsloop richting mijn stage en ik altijd twee bananen koop. De vriendelijke man, genaamd, Julio, vaart elke dag op en neer naar Curaçao met zijn bootje om daar aan de Floating Market vers fruit van het vaste land te verkopen. Julio stond net op het punt van vertrekken en ik kon gelukkig met hem mee varen richting Curaçao! Na een boottocht van ongeveer twee uur kwam Curaçao weer in zicht en al snel vaarde we langs de beroemde handelskade en voor het eerst sinds mijn verblijf hier was ik blij dat de bootjesbrug openstond voor scheepvaartverkeer. Ik keek snel op de klok… kwart voor zeven! Als ik snel was kon ik nog net wat biertjes met korting bestellen tijdens het happy hour op Wet & Wild wat tot 7 uur duurde.
Snel stopte ik een taxi en sprong in. Eerst snel langs huis even wat geld pakken en toen op naar Wet & Wild. Ik was echt net op tijd! Ik had net m’n treetje bier besteld toen er werd omgeroepen dat het happy hour voorbij was. Met een glimlach van genoegen trok ik me even terug op een strandbedje en genoot van de zonsondergang. Weer een dag om nooit te vergeten dacht ik bij mezelf.

Onze tocht naor huis is begonne.
We hebben aankomende week onze laatste optredens op de Tokelau eilanden, en vanuit hier nemen we donderdag 't vliegtuig naar Nederland en dan hup in de trein naar hometown Oeteldonk.
Waar over een paar doagen het feest zal losbarsten!!!
De afspraak bij d'nne kapper is gemaakt, onze pekskes zijn klaor en we kenne er bijna tegenaan!!
Meerder mensen wezen ons op hyves ofzoiets, dus hebbe we ons daar ok maar eens aangemeld.
Ge kent ons dus ook daor krabbelen (ofzoiets, werd ons verteld).
Nou lieve mensen, we kenne bijna nie wachten! De letste loodjes wegen het zwaorst, maor wij kenne alleen maar vooruit kijken naar één groat feest!!

[message] => Hoi allemaal ik heb gevist gister op de pier (tering mooi weer, moet hoed en bril op voor de zon) en er zit allemaal rare vis: Inktvis met grote ogen, papegaaivis, leatherjacket (blauw geel), vierkante giftige visjes die je dood moet maken en niet mag terug gooien. Gass whiting(wijting maar dan met groene streepen) zee zalm, en travelly!! die worden heel groot en wil ik vangen, de rest heb ik allemaal(behalve inktvis) al een keer gevangen. Fotos komen nog. zaterdag avond moet ik als proef afwassen in een restaurant en zondag als proef in een broodjes en koffie tentje aan de kust werken. dan kan ik na 25 dec wanneer het hier echt vakantie is fulltime werken!!

De jaguar dook op de kaaiman en ik draaide me naar de Capibara toe. Hij keek me heel even aan, blafte nog een keer maar toen ik terug gromde ging hij er met de staart tussen de benen vandoor. Eindelijk met mijn voeten op Colombiaanse grond keek ik naar de zwarte jaguar die op het hoofd van de kaaiman kauwde. De Jaguar gaf me een alleszeggende knipoog. Zo van: Jij en ik, wij zijn koningen van de jungle.
Ik kon nog maar aan één ding denken, Curaçao! Want over een paar uurtjes begon Wet & Wild al, het beste relaxte strandfeest wat je ooit hebt meegemaakt. Ik vervolgde mijn reis door de jungle richting beschaving. Na een klein half uurtje hoorde ik een angstaanjagend geluid wat ik normaal alleen in films heb gehoord of op m’n playstation. Klick-klack… Het geluid van een herladende AK-47 klonk op een paar meter achter me. De man die achter me stond zag er uit als een doorgewinterde vietcongstrijder, alleen dan zonder spleetogen. Met een moeilijk te verstaan Engels met een zwaar Spaans accent werd mij gevraagd wat ik hier deed.
Ik deed mijn verhaal en wonderbaarlijk genoeg geloofde de man mij en had blijkbaar zoveel respect voor mijn avontuur dat hij besloot me te helpen. Na een half uur met hem door de jungle te hebben gestruind vertelde hij dat hij bij de FARC zat en dat hij hier een cocaïne plantage bewaakt. De aardige man wees me uiteindelijk in de richting van een kustdorp.
Eenmaal aangekomen in het dorpje zag ik al snel een bekend gezicht. De man van de Floating Market waar ik elke ochtend langsloop richting mijn stage en ik altijd twee bananen koop. De vriendelijke man, genaamd, Julio, vaart elke dag op en neer naar Curaçao met zijn bootje om daar aan de Floating Market vers fruit van het vaste land te verkopen. Julio stond net op het punt van vertrekken en ik kon gelukkig met hem mee varen richting Curaçao! Na een boottocht van ongeveer twee uur kwam Curaçao weer in zicht en al snel vaarde we langs de beroemde handelskade en voor het eerst sinds mijn verblijf hier was ik blij dat de bootjesbrug openstond voor scheepvaartverkeer. Ik keek snel op de klok… kwart voor zeven! Als ik snel was kon ik nog net wat biertjes met korting bestellen tijdens het happy hour op Wet & Wild wat tot 7 uur duurde.
Snel stopte ik een taxi en sprong in. Eerst snel langs huis even wat geld pakken en toen op naar Wet & Wild. Ik was echt net op tijd! Ik had net m’n treetje bier besteld toen er werd omgeroepen dat het happy hour voorbij was. Met een glimlach van genoegen trok ik me even terug op een strandbedje en genoot van de zonsondergang. Weer een dag om nooit te vergeten dacht ik bij mezelf.

Onze tocht naor huis is begonne.
We hebben aankomende week onze laatste optredens op de Tokelau eilanden, en vanuit hier nemen we donderdag 't vliegtuig naar Nederland en dan hup in de trein naar hometown Oeteldonk.
Waar over een paar doagen het feest zal losbarsten!!!
De afspraak bij d'nne kapper is gemaakt, onze pekskes zijn klaor en we kenne er bijna tegenaan!!
Meerder mensen wezen ons op hyves ofzoiets, dus hebbe we ons daar ok maar eens aangemeld.
Ge kent ons dus ook daor krabbelen (ofzoiets, werd ons verteld).
Nou lieve mensen, we kenne bijna nie wachten! De letste loodjes wegen het zwaorst, maor wij kenne alleen maar vooruit kijken naar één groat feest!!

[message] => Hoi allemaal ik heb gevist gister op de pier (tering mooi weer, moet hoed en bril op voor de zon) en er zit allemaal rare vis: Inktvis met grote ogen, papegaaivis, leatherjacket (blauw geel), vierkante giftige visjes die je dood moet maken en niet mag terug gooien. Gass whiting(wijting maar dan met groene streepen) zee zalm, en travelly!! die worden heel groot en wil ik vangen, de rest heb ik allemaal(behalve inktvis) al een keer gevangen. Fotos komen nog. zaterdag avond moet ik als proef afwassen in een restaurant en zondag als proef in een broodjes en koffie tentje aan de kust werken. dan kan ik na 25 dec wanneer het hier echt vakantie is fulltime werken!!

[message] => Drijvend op m’n luchtbedje schrok ik wakker van het geluid van een woeste branding. Ik bevond me op zo’n 50 meter van een kustlijn die ik nog nooit had gezien, met daarvoor metershoge golven die braken op een messcherp koraalrif. Tegen de stroming in proberen te peddelen had inmiddels geen zin meer, dus ik zou het koraal op de een of andere manier moeten zien te ontwijken. Om alles nog een stukje erger te maken doemde er naast me opeens grote donkere vinnen uit het water op die om me heen begonnen te cirkelen. Tijd voor actie dus, ik moest hier zo snel mogelijk weg. Ik zag m’n ontsnappingsmogelijkheid bij een grote golf die aankwam zetten. Ik begon met de golf mee te peddelen en toen ik eenmaal op snelheid was sprong ik op mijn luchtbed en surfte ik zo over het koraalrif heen.
Eenmaal gestrand op het onbekende zand kon ik me maar één ding afvragen… Waar de FAK ben ik?!? Hier blijven zitten had geen zin, ik moest op zoek naar beschaving om zo uiteindelijk mijn weg terug te kunnen vinden naar Wet & Wild.
Na een uur paraderen over het strand kwam ik een idyllisch strandtentje tegen. Meer dan een houten blokhutje was het niet, maar er stond een amateuristische tekening van een cocktail op de zijkant. Dit was mijn redding dacht ik. In het tentje stond een klein mannetje dat me gelukkig gratis een fles water gaf, ik had natuurlijk geen geld bij me.
De man maakte me duidelijk dat ik in Venezuela was. Ik was dus blijkbaar in slaap gevallen op m’n luchtbed en naar Venezuela gedreven. Kut dus, hoe kom ik nou weer terug dacht ik? Geen passpoort, geen geld, niks (met uitzondering van m’n standaard kit: Knife, Flint and a Waterbottle). Ik bedacht een ingenieus plan, maar hiervoor zou ik eerst de grens met Colombia over moeten steken.
Voor me ruste enkele kilometers diep regenwoud met alle gevaren van dien. Eenmaal op pad kwamen al snel de problemen. Bij de eerste rivier die ik moest oversteken lagen zo’n 1000 kaaimannen aan de overkant. Ik probeerde stilletjes weg te sluipen maar ze hadden me natuurlijk allang gehoord. De kaaimannen kwamen als hooligans op me af. Ik rende net zo lang totdat ik de laatste volharde kaaiman eindelijk van me af had geschud. Eenmaal weer diep in de jungle hoorde ik een hard schel gepiep. Nieuwsgierig besloot ik op het geluid af te gaan en trof ik 3 jongen Ara’s aan. Ze waren waarschijnlijk gevallen want een meter of twintig boven me zaten de ouders hevig krijsend bij het nest. Voorzichtig pakte ik de beestjes op en begon omhoog te klimmen. Het was zwaar en omdat ik maar 1 hand ter beschikking had moest ik vogelspinnen en kleine slangen die ik tijdens mijn klim tegenkwam dood bijten met mijn tanden. Eenmaal boven bedankte de grote Ara’s me en vroegen of ik het leuk vond om de kinderen te voeren. Natuurlijk! Het was een magisch moment. Hierna zei ik de Ara’s gedag en klom terug naar beneden waar ik in een zwerm vleesetende vliegen terecht kwam. Het waren er minstens een miljoen en ze begonnen onmiddellijk te bijten. Binnen een minuut zat heel mijn lichaam onder de jeukende wonden en het enige wat ik kon doen om m’n leven te redden was in de rivier te springen. Eenmaal in het water voelde ik een soort mes in mijn been snijden. Het deed ongelofelijk veel pijn en die pijn promoveerde al gauw in doodsangsten wanneer ik in het volledig bloedgekleurde water zag wat voor een beest mij had aangevallen. Het was een enorme schildpad van zeker honderd jaar oud met nagels zo groot als aardappelschilmesjes! Hij keek mij met een dodelijke blik recht in mijn ogen aan en begon zelfs te blazen. Weg zwemmen had geen zin want dat beest was minstens 10x sneller dan ik in het water en dus zat er niks anders op dan aan te vallen. Vlug dook ik onder water en greep ik -na een tweede aanval van het monster die ik ternauwernood kon ontwijken- naar zijn schild. Ik greep hem vlak boven zijn kop vast en na een stevig potje stoeien lukte het me uiteindelijk om ook de andere kant van zijn schild vast te grijpen. De schildpad kon geen kant meer op maar ik ook niet! Ik besloot de schildpad als buitenboordmotor te gebruiken en duwde hem in de richting van Colombia. De schildpad begon te zwemmen en na twee en een half uur toen ik de zoveelste boomstronk ontweken had, zag ik het… Colombia! Het stond er ook echt. Met bord zo’n bordje “Welkom in Colombia” midden in de Jungle! Best raar dacht ik bij mezelf om hier zo’n bordje neer te zetten maar toen bedacht ik me dat die Colombianen best territoriaal kunnen zijn. Afijn, ik kon me er niet druk om maken, ik had Colombia bereikt.
Ik liet de schildpad los en begon als een malle richting de kant te zwemmen. Toen ik de kant bereikte doemde zich daar het volgende probleem alweer op. Never Easy dacht ik bij mijzelf… Op het strand zaten een kaaiman en Capibara gebroederlijk naast elkaar op de oever (hoe dat kan weet ik ook niet maar geloof me, het is écht waar!).
De Capibara, een soort cavia ter grote van een buffel, blafte naar me en liet zijn tanden zien terwijl de kaaiman met open bek op me af kwam rennen. In een reflex sprong ik in de lucht en toen ik boven de kaaiman zweefde draaide ik mij in de lucht om en dook op de kaaiman. [message] => Hoi allemaal ik heb gevist gister op de pier (tering mooi weer, moet hoed en bril op voor de zon) en er zit allemaal rare vis: Inktvis met grote ogen, papegaaivis, leatherjacket (blauw geel), vierkante giftige visjes die je dood moet maken en niet mag terug gooien. Gass whiting(wijting maar dan met groene streepen) zee zalm, en travelly!! die worden heel groot en wil ik vangen, de rest heb ik allemaal(behalve inktvis) al een keer gevangen. Fotos komen nog. zaterdag avond moet ik als proef afwassen in een restaurant en zondag als proef in een broodjes en koffie tentje aan de kust werken. dan kan ik na 25 dec wanneer het hier echt vakantie is fulltime werken!!

[message] => Na zoveel maanden onderweg waren wij verrast dat mensen nog steeds niet wisten waar wij nu eigenlijk op reden...
En voor echte Outlaws als ons, is je bike echt je lust en je leven.
Het leven van een biker draait alleen om de eeuwige vrijheid met de wind langs je haren over de uitgestrekte wegen scheuren.
Helaas kunnen wij niet altijd op onze bikes rijden i.v.m. gezin enz.
Wij zijn dan ook genoodzaakt om af en toe met de auto te gaan.
