[text] => Op reis gaan is voor vele reizigers een droom die werkelijkheid wordt. Nieuwe landen ontdekken, culturen beleven, spontane beslissingen nemen en dagen lang niets plannen. Juist daarom is het belangrijk om vóór vertrek goed na te denken over je verzekering. Want stel: je breekt je enkel tijdens een hike in de bergen, of je raakt ernstig ziek in een land ver van huis. Zomaar even naar Nederland terugkeren kan dan vanwege medische en transportkosten een enorme last zijn.
Waarom een standaard reisverzekering vaak niet volstaat voor een wereldreis
Veel Nederlanders denken bij “verzekering op reis” aan hun standaard zorgverzekering plus een kortlopende reisverzekering, die ze afsluiten voor een vakantie van één à twee weken. Voor een kort weekend weg is dat vaak voldoende maar bij een wereldreis of backpacktrip gaat dat meestal niet op.

- Kortlopende reisverzekering: Handig voor een enkele vakantie van een paar weken; vaak goedkoper, maar met beperkingen op duur en dekking.
- Doorlopende reisverzekering: Een doorlopende polis die het hele jaar geldig is, ongeacht aantal reizen of duur. Ideaal voor reizigers die langdurig op pad zijn of regelmatig rondreizen.
Ben je voor een lange periode onderweg? Of maak je een uitgebreide rondreis? Dan is het verstandig om te kiezen voor een doorlopende reisverzekering. Je weet dan dat al je reizen het hele jaar door goed verzekerd zijn.
Let op deze dekkingen bij avontuurlijke reizen
Waar moet je daarna op letten? Niet elke reisverzekering is hetzelfde. Vooral niet als je gaat backpacken, hiken, duiken of andere avontuurlijke activiteiten onderneemt. Let bij het afsluiten op de volgende zaken:
- Werelddekking (en niet alleen Europa): Als je buiten Europa reist, is werelddekking essentieel.
- Medische kosten en spoedeisende zorg: Zorg dat ziekenhuisopname en noodzakelijke behandelingen in het buitenland vergoed zijn. Kijk zelf ook naar hoe het in het land geregeld is. Zijn er (dure)privéklinieken? Of juist niet?
- Repatriëring en medisch transport: Evacuatie of terugkeer naar Nederland moet goed geregeld zijn. Als je dit zelf moet betalen dan kunnen de kosten flink oplopen.
- Avontuurlijke activiteiten: Activiteiten als bergwandelen, duiken of scooterrijden zijn niet altijd standaard gedekt. Ga je juist naar een wintersportgebied? Dan heb je eigenlijk altijd een uitgebreide dekking nodig.
- Bagage en diefstal: Controleer wat vergoed wordt bij verlies of schade. Bereken vooraf wat de waarde is van de spullen die je meeneemt. Reis je licht of juist met heel veel dure tech?
- Aansprakelijkheid en rechtsbijstand: Zeker bij ongelukken of conflicten in het buitenland kan dit waardevol zijn. Je zit niet te wachten op een langlopend conflict als je alweer terug in Nederland bent.
Wat kost een goede dekking?
Wanneer je denkt “ik reis maar zelden” of “ik hoop dat er niets gebeurt”, kan de verleiding groot zijn om te besparen op je verzekering. Maar de financiële risico’s zijn niet te onderschatten. Veel singles hebben ernstige bedenkingen als het gaat over in je eentje een verre vakantiereis maken. Want stel er gaat wat mis als je single een rondreis maakt in de Verenigde Staten, door Zuid-Afrika of in Argentinië. Dan is er niemand die je kan helpen. En ja, daar zit natuurlijk wat in. Zeker als je naar een land gaat waarvan je de taal niet spreekt kan dat een probleem zijn. Maar je kunt ook kiezen voor een groepsreis. Dan ben je niet alleen en er is ook altijd een reisleider die je in geval van nood kan bijstaan.
Een singlereis met een groep
Er zijn reisorganisaties die zich richten op singles, en dan specifiek in bepaalde leeftijdsgroepen. Zo worden er speciale singlereizen voor jongvolwassenen georganiseerd. Of je nu van een actieve vakantie houdt met veel lange wandelingen of een spannende overnachting in een tipi tent in de wildernis of dat je de voorkeur geeft aan een cultuurreis met bezoeken aan musea en fraai gerestaureerde kerken. Deze single reizen zijn overduidelijk geen koppelreizen. Het is niet bij voorbaat de bedoeling dat je er een partner aan overhoudt. [title] => Ons avontuur op Pitcairn Island ? Of niet ?
[message] => Vroeg in de ochtend gaat bij ons de wekker , voor niets , want wij zijn allang op . We willen heel graag naar Pitcairn , dus vroeg ontbijten en de rugtassen pakken . Op ons balkon zien we het eiland naderen , dus maar snel naar de verzamelplaats in de Marina lounche voor de tender , want we willen de eerste niet missen . Er zitten al een aantal enthousiastelingen te wachten en wij sluiten aan.
Het duurt nog wel een uurtje , maar daar geven we niet om . Dan volgt er een praatje van de kapitein vanaf de brug . Hij hoopt dat we kunnen tenderen , maar hij ziet het donker in vanwege de wind die ons en de medepassagiers toch niet zo sterk lijkt ….. Maar helaas , als we de Bounty bay invaren waar we moeten ankeren neemt de kapitein het besluit dat we niet aan land kunnen . Het waait te hard . dit is helaas het risico wat je loopt met tenderen . Wel héél jammer …….De kapitein besluit naar de andere kant van het eiland te varen en daar voor anker te gaan . Daar is het uit de wind en het water rustig . Als wij niet naar de wal kunnen , moet de wal maar naar het schip en al spoedig komt er een vrachtsloep met het halve eiland aan bevolking aanvaren . Deze grote sloepen zijn de vrachtschepen van het eiland , houten containers gaan als last onderin en de passagiers zitten op houten bankjes daarboven . Ze gaan een markt aan boord verzorgen . Vinden we wel leuk want we hadden onze zinnen gezet op een miniatuur Bounty , en hopen die alsnog te bemachtigen . Een tijdje later , na een lekker bakje koffie in het onderhand Nederlandse hoekje in de koffiebar , gaan we richting markt in de Horizon . Overal kraampjes in deze prachtige salon en het krioelt er van de passagiers ….. Het lukt ons een Bounty model te bemachtigen , hoe we die thuiskrijgen is punt twee want hij is groter dan gedacht…..Verkocht én gemaakt door Brian Young , een nazaat van een van de muiters ! Ook treffen we de dame die de lezing verzorgde , Jaqkui Christian , die ons belangstellend vroeg waar we vandaan kwamen . Uut Nederland , en dat had ze al gedacht ! Ze was een tijdje terug nog in Nederland geweest , zelfs in Groningen en vond het daar geweldig . Dat vonden wij wel leuk , en na haar gefeliciteerd te hebben met haar verjaardag die ze vandaag viert namen we afscheid en misschien tot ziens in Nederland ?? Al met al hebben we een hele leuke dag , hoewel we natuurlijk liever aan land gegaan waren . Zo meteen doen we nog een “rondje eiland “wat de kapitein zojuist bekend heeft gemaakt en dan is het tijd om afscheid te nemen van de Pitcairn bewoners die weer terug gaan naar hun wereldje ……

[message] => We zitten midden op de Stille Oceaan en het is hier prachtig , schitterend weer maar ontzettend eenzaam . Geen land te zien , geen Dolfijn of Walvis , zelfs geen enkel schip . We ademen hier wél de schoonste lucht ter wereld in . Hoe moet dat geweest zijn in 1787 , toen HMS Bounty Kaap Hoorn ronde en hier rondzeilde op expeditie naar Tahiti …..Maandenlang op zee en dan Tahiti …..Prachtig eiland , heerlijk weer , mooie vrouwen , eten en drinken in overvloed en daarna weer terug naar Engeland ? Daar had Fletcher Christian niet zoveel zin in , en hij haalde het grootste deel van de zeelui over om hier in het paradijs te blijven . Maar wat te doen met kapitein Bligh en officieren ? Ze werden met in totaal 19 man in een zeilsloep gezet en weggestuurd , de muiterij was een feit . Nadat de muiters een tijdje op Tahiti hadden doorgebracht onder leiding van Christian bedacht hij dat als Bligh ooit vaste land zou bereiken , ze een expeditie op touw zouden zetten om hen gevangen te nemen …..Dus vertrok hij met een aantal mede muiters en een aantal Tahitiaanse schonen en vier Tahitiaanse mannen die aan boord waren verscholen met de Bounty en zocht naar een onbewoond eiland . Kapitein Bligh ondertussen had de Dutch Indies bereikt en kon vandaar doorreizen naar Engeland . Dezen zetten inderdaad een expeditie op om de muiters te halen . De muiters die op Tahiti achter waren gebleven werden zo opgepakt , naar Engeland gebracht en als ze onderweg al niet waren overleden werden ze opgehangen !
Fletcher lande op een onbewoond eiland wat Pitcairn eiland werd genoemd . Mede muiters kregen allen een stuk land , vrouw(en) en een huis werd gebouwd . De vier Tahitiaanse mannen kregen echter niets . Fletchers grootste fout ! Ondertussen begon het leven op het eiland , kinderen werden geboren met achternamen als Christian ,Young , Adams en deze werden tot Christendom gevormd , grootgebracht met het enige boek op het eiland , de bijbel . De vier Tahitianen zonnen ondertussen op wraak en vier jaar nadat ze op het eiland waren aangekomen werden de meeste muiters door dezen gedood . Fletcher Christian liet 3 kinderen na .
Vandaag hadden we aan boord een lezing van één van de nazaten van Christian , Jacqi Christian . Ze is de 7e generatie Christiaan , en woont weer op Pitcairn eiland , na een tijd in Australie en Nieuw Zeeland te hebben gewoond . Maar het bloed kruipt ……..Het is een prachtige en intelligente vrouw van 43 en spreekt zeer goed . Het eiland op zich is een paradijs , het water er om heen heel schoon met een zicht van wel 65 meter . Er wonen nu 49 mensen op Pitcairn eiland , allemaal nazaten van de muiters . Het eiland is het enige stukje Groot Brittanië in de Pacific , omdat Christian de muiter gratie kreeg ( Postuum ) daar hij het eilandje tot christendom had gebracht …….Er zijn tien tijdelijke krachten op het eiland , zoals een dokter , een leraar ed . Telefoon is er sinds 2006 en er is satelliet verbinding voor internet , maar die werkt nog langzamer dan hier aan boord …..4 x per jaar kan men van het eiland af per schip of er weer naar toe , er is geen vliegstrook …..Tegenwoordig komen er wel een paar cruiseschepen langs , dit jaar zo’n 12 .
Wij hopen er morgen te komen en aan land te gaan wat nog maar zeer de vraag is , want er mag absoluut niet te veel wind staan , het schijnt moeilijk te zijn om daar te landen …… we zullen zien !

Hier een bericht vanaf de South Pacific Ocean.
Ik heb het nog steeds prima naar me zin en met een temperatuur van bijna 30 graden is het prima te doen hier zo. Naast dat er natuurlijk wel gewerkt moet worden is er genoeg tijd om middags even in mijn luie ligstoel van de zon te genieten onder het genot van een koud biertje.
Begin volgende week wordt het zwembad weer in elkaar gezet en kan ik ook weer even lekker afkoelen. Dat zal ook wel nodig zijn want rond panama zal de temperatuur in de machinekamer oplopen tot zo'n 40 a 45 graden.
We zijn pas iets meer als 1 week op zee maar dat hield me niet tegen om wilde avonturen te beleven.
Vandaag hebben we voor anker gelegen voor het eiland Pitcairn een zeer klein eilandje in de midden van de Pacific waar 76 mensen wonen. Deze mensen stammen af van de muiters van de Bounty.
Het was zo:
We aten om 12 uur iets vroeger dan normaal maar we moesten wat extra tijd vrij maken voor de markt.. …een markt op zee.. ja het is echt waar, een markt.
Om 1 uur waren we op 100 meter het eiland genaderd en gingen we ten anker.
Daarna zagen we al gauw een klein bootje vanuit de rimboe komen helemaal afgeladen met vis en vers fruit, souvenirs enzovoorts Ze praten allemaal vloeiend Engels en je kon echt zien dat er maar af en toe een schip kwam want wij waren de 2e in dit jaar pas. Ze zijn te vergelijken met mensen zoals Jack Sparrow uit de film Pirats of the Caribien.
In de messroom.(eet/relax ruimte) legden deze mensen al hun koopwaar uit. Betalen kon in euro,dollars maar voornamelijk werd en geruild.
Ik zelf heb een oude kaart van het eiland een Hawaï blouse en een T-shirt geruild voor 30 blikjes coke cola zero, wat voor hun een luxe was.
Na 2 uur druk onderhandelen waren de meesten dealen wel rond en werden er foto's gemaakt, nagepraat en ik was echt gefascineerd door deze mensen.
Hun manier van leven bestond uit vissen onderhoud aan huizen werktuigen etc. en souvenirs maken.
Beeldjes uit hout gesneden of T-shirts of postzegels. Het is jammer dat ik nog geen foto's online kan zetten omdat ik nog op zee zit maar de beelden zijn indrukwekkend.
Ik zou graag ook wel een paar maanden op zo'n eiland willen leven, wie weet.
Ze hebben daar zo sinds 1 jaar internet en een telefoon al die tijd ervoor was er haast geen contact met de buitenwereld mogelijk. Kortom een totaal andere manier van leven wat wij als Nederlanders haast niet kunnen voorstellen.
Jullie kunnen merken dat ik lekker enthousiast ben,maargoed voorlopig weer effe rustig qua avonturen eerst nog 2 weken op zee voordat we panama aandoen en dat zal ook wel een hele belevenis worden.

[message] => Alo allemaal,
Deze keer een berichtje vanaf de oceaan, driften voor een eilandje.. Het eilandje is Brits eigendom (hier helemaal?;) en wordt het Pitcairn Island genoemd.
Het is een groep van 4 eilanden en het is het laatste Brits grond gebied in de South Pacific. Dit eilandje is beroemd vanwege de laatste bewoners die er leven, nou ja de voorgangers daarvan dan, die rond 1790 de Bounty (een Engels marine schip) hebben gekaapt. Ze zijn met het schip verdwenen en op de Pitcairn eilanden aanbeland. Het schip is deels verbrand en het wrak is nog steeds te zien in Bounty Bay.
Op het mini eilandje (ongeveer 3,2 km lang en 1,5 km breed) wonen de afstammelingen van de kapers en het is nu de 6e generatie! Er wonen 60 mensen op het eiland en 50 daarvan kwamen er bij ons aan boord om leuke souveniertjes te verkopen! Dus de andere 10 bewaken het eiland!;) Het eilandje is het minst bevolkte eilandje ter wereld (alhoewel het geen land op zich is maar van Engeland.) Uiteraard was het dringen geblazen om van die (ex) piraten leuke dingen te kopen, ik heb dan ook een heel mooi boek (jaa das echt!:)) gekocht en een ansichtkaart. Waarop postzegels zitten, welke als ze gestempeld zijn op dit eiland veel geld waard zijn de positie van het eilandje is : 25°04’.0 S 130°06’.0 W dan kan je het opzoeken in de atlas of google earth.
Achja dat was wel geinig vandaag! We konden niet de wal, want dat zou gevaarlijk zijn omdat dan het hele eiland gesloopt zou worden door de toeristen.. dus dan maar drijven! Maarr we zijn net weer vertrokken en op weg naar Bora Bora!:) Naar men zegt is dat het paradijs op aarde! Zo mooi blijkbaar! Dus ik ben benieuwd! We komen er aan..
Maar vanavond nog eerst een party voor de crew op het forward mooring deck, betaald door een te rijke Nederlandse passagier!:) Heel gaaf dat ze aan de crew denkt natuurlijk!:) Dus dat beloofd wat te worden!

Een tijdje later , na een lekker bakje koffie in het onderhand Nederlandse hoekje in de koffiebar , gaan we richting markt in de Horizon . Overal kraampjes in deze prachtige salon en het krioelt er van de passagiers ….. Het lukt ons een Bounty model te bemachtigen , hoe we die thuiskrijgen is punt twee want hij is groter dan gedacht…..Verkocht én gemaakt door Brian Young , een nazaat van een van de muiters ! Ook treffen we de dame die de lezing verzorgde , Jaqkui Christian , die ons belangstellend vroeg waar we vandaan kwamen . Uut Nederland , en dat had ze al gedacht ! Ze was een tijdje terug nog in Nederland geweest , zelfs in Groningen en vond het daar geweldig . Dat vonden wij wel leuk , en na haar gefeliciteerd te hebben met haar verjaardag die ze vandaag viert namen we afscheid en misschien tot ziens in Nederland ?? Al met al hebben we een hele leuke dag , hoewel we natuurlijk liever aan land gegaan waren . Zo meteen doen we nog een “rondje eiland “wat de kapitein zojuist bekend heeft gemaakt en dan is het tijd om afscheid te nemen van de Pitcairn bewoners die weer terug gaan naar hun wereldje ……

[message] => We zitten midden op de Stille Oceaan en het is hier prachtig , schitterend weer maar ontzettend eenzaam . Geen land te zien , geen Dolfijn of Walvis , zelfs geen enkel schip . We ademen hier wél de schoonste lucht ter wereld in . Hoe moet dat geweest zijn in 1787 , toen HMS Bounty Kaap Hoorn ronde en hier rondzeilde op expeditie naar Tahiti …..Maandenlang op zee en dan Tahiti …..Prachtig eiland , heerlijk weer , mooie vrouwen , eten en drinken in overvloed en daarna weer terug naar Engeland ? Daar had Fletcher Christian niet zoveel zin in , en hij haalde het grootste deel van de zeelui over om hier in het paradijs te blijven . Maar wat te doen met kapitein Bligh en officieren ? Ze werden met in totaal 19 man in een zeilsloep gezet en weggestuurd , de muiterij was een feit . Nadat de muiters een tijdje op Tahiti hadden doorgebracht onder leiding van Christian bedacht hij dat als Bligh ooit vaste land zou bereiken , ze een expeditie op touw zouden zetten om hen gevangen te nemen …..Dus vertrok hij met een aantal mede muiters en een aantal Tahitiaanse schonen en vier Tahitiaanse mannen die aan boord waren verscholen met de Bounty en zocht naar een onbewoond eiland . Kapitein Bligh ondertussen had de Dutch Indies bereikt en kon vandaar doorreizen naar Engeland . Dezen zetten inderdaad een expeditie op om de muiters te halen . De muiters die op Tahiti achter waren gebleven werden zo opgepakt , naar Engeland gebracht en als ze onderweg al niet waren overleden werden ze opgehangen !
Fletcher lande op een onbewoond eiland wat Pitcairn eiland werd genoemd . Mede muiters kregen allen een stuk land , vrouw(en) en een huis werd gebouwd . De vier Tahitiaanse mannen kregen echter niets . Fletchers grootste fout ! Ondertussen begon het leven op het eiland , kinderen werden geboren met achternamen als Christian ,Young , Adams en deze werden tot Christendom gevormd , grootgebracht met het enige boek op het eiland , de bijbel . De vier Tahitianen zonnen ondertussen op wraak en vier jaar nadat ze op het eiland waren aangekomen werden de meeste muiters door dezen gedood . Fletcher Christian liet 3 kinderen na .
Vandaag hadden we aan boord een lezing van één van de nazaten van Christian , Jacqi Christian . Ze is de 7e generatie Christiaan , en woont weer op Pitcairn eiland , na een tijd in Australie en Nieuw Zeeland te hebben gewoond . Maar het bloed kruipt ……..Het is een prachtige en intelligente vrouw van 43 en spreekt zeer goed . Het eiland op zich is een paradijs , het water er om heen heel schoon met een zicht van wel 65 meter . Er wonen nu 49 mensen op Pitcairn eiland , allemaal nazaten van de muiters . Het eiland is het enige stukje Groot Brittanië in de Pacific , omdat Christian de muiter gratie kreeg ( Postuum ) daar hij het eilandje tot christendom had gebracht …….Er zijn tien tijdelijke krachten op het eiland , zoals een dokter , een leraar ed . Telefoon is er sinds 2006 en er is satelliet verbinding voor internet , maar die werkt nog langzamer dan hier aan boord …..4 x per jaar kan men van het eiland af per schip of er weer naar toe , er is geen vliegstrook …..Tegenwoordig komen er wel een paar cruiseschepen langs , dit jaar zo’n 12 .
Wij hopen er morgen te komen en aan land te gaan wat nog maar zeer de vraag is , want er mag absoluut niet te veel wind staan , het schijnt moeilijk te zijn om daar te landen …… we zullen zien !

Hier een bericht vanaf de South Pacific Ocean.
Ik heb het nog steeds prima naar me zin en met een temperatuur van bijna 30 graden is het prima te doen hier zo. Naast dat er natuurlijk wel gewerkt moet worden is er genoeg tijd om middags even in mijn luie ligstoel van de zon te genieten onder het genot van een koud biertje.
Begin volgende week wordt het zwembad weer in elkaar gezet en kan ik ook weer even lekker afkoelen. Dat zal ook wel nodig zijn want rond panama zal de temperatuur in de machinekamer oplopen tot zo'n 40 a 45 graden.
We zijn pas iets meer als 1 week op zee maar dat hield me niet tegen om wilde avonturen te beleven.
Vandaag hebben we voor anker gelegen voor het eiland Pitcairn een zeer klein eilandje in de midden van de Pacific waar 76 mensen wonen. Deze mensen stammen af van de muiters van de Bounty.
Het was zo:
We aten om 12 uur iets vroeger dan normaal maar we moesten wat extra tijd vrij maken voor de markt.. …een markt op zee.. ja het is echt waar, een markt.
Om 1 uur waren we op 100 meter het eiland genaderd en gingen we ten anker.
Daarna zagen we al gauw een klein bootje vanuit de rimboe komen helemaal afgeladen met vis en vers fruit, souvenirs enzovoorts Ze praten allemaal vloeiend Engels en je kon echt zien dat er maar af en toe een schip kwam want wij waren de 2e in dit jaar pas. Ze zijn te vergelijken met mensen zoals Jack Sparrow uit de film Pirats of the Caribien.
In de messroom.(eet/relax ruimte) legden deze mensen al hun koopwaar uit. Betalen kon in euro,dollars maar voornamelijk werd en geruild.
Ik zelf heb een oude kaart van het eiland een Hawaï blouse en een T-shirt geruild voor 30 blikjes coke cola zero, wat voor hun een luxe was.
Na 2 uur druk onderhandelen waren de meesten dealen wel rond en werden er foto's gemaakt, nagepraat en ik was echt gefascineerd door deze mensen.
Hun manier van leven bestond uit vissen onderhoud aan huizen werktuigen etc. en souvenirs maken.
Beeldjes uit hout gesneden of T-shirts of postzegels. Het is jammer dat ik nog geen foto's online kan zetten omdat ik nog op zee zit maar de beelden zijn indrukwekkend.
Ik zou graag ook wel een paar maanden op zo'n eiland willen leven, wie weet.
Ze hebben daar zo sinds 1 jaar internet en een telefoon al die tijd ervoor was er haast geen contact met de buitenwereld mogelijk. Kortom een totaal andere manier van leven wat wij als Nederlanders haast niet kunnen voorstellen.
Jullie kunnen merken dat ik lekker enthousiast ben,maargoed voorlopig weer effe rustig qua avonturen eerst nog 2 weken op zee voordat we panama aandoen en dat zal ook wel een hele belevenis worden.

[message] => Alo allemaal,
Deze keer een berichtje vanaf de oceaan, driften voor een eilandje.. Het eilandje is Brits eigendom (hier helemaal?;) en wordt het Pitcairn Island genoemd.
Het is een groep van 4 eilanden en het is het laatste Brits grond gebied in de South Pacific. Dit eilandje is beroemd vanwege de laatste bewoners die er leven, nou ja de voorgangers daarvan dan, die rond 1790 de Bounty (een Engels marine schip) hebben gekaapt. Ze zijn met het schip verdwenen en op de Pitcairn eilanden aanbeland. Het schip is deels verbrand en het wrak is nog steeds te zien in Bounty Bay.
Op het mini eilandje (ongeveer 3,2 km lang en 1,5 km breed) wonen de afstammelingen van de kapers en het is nu de 6e generatie! Er wonen 60 mensen op het eiland en 50 daarvan kwamen er bij ons aan boord om leuke souveniertjes te verkopen! Dus de andere 10 bewaken het eiland!;) Het eilandje is het minst bevolkte eilandje ter wereld (alhoewel het geen land op zich is maar van Engeland.) Uiteraard was het dringen geblazen om van die (ex) piraten leuke dingen te kopen, ik heb dan ook een heel mooi boek (jaa das echt!:)) gekocht en een ansichtkaart. Waarop postzegels zitten, welke als ze gestempeld zijn op dit eiland veel geld waard zijn de positie van het eilandje is : 25°04’.0 S 130°06’.0 W dan kan je het opzoeken in de atlas of google earth.
Achja dat was wel geinig vandaag! We konden niet de wal, want dat zou gevaarlijk zijn omdat dan het hele eiland gesloopt zou worden door de toeristen.. dus dan maar drijven! Maarr we zijn net weer vertrokken en op weg naar Bora Bora!:) Naar men zegt is dat het paradijs op aarde! Zo mooi blijkbaar! Dus ik ben benieuwd! We komen er aan..
Maar vanavond nog eerst een party voor de crew op het forward mooring deck, betaald door een te rijke Nederlandse passagier!:) Heel gaaf dat ze aan de crew denkt natuurlijk!:) Dus dat beloofd wat te worden!

[title] => Ons avontuur op Pitcairn Island ? Of niet ?
[message] => Vroeg in de ochtend gaat bij ons de wekker , voor niets , want wij zijn allang op . We willen heel graag naar Pitcairn , dus vroeg ontbijten en de rugtassen pakken . Op ons balkon zien we het eiland naderen , dus maar snel naar de verzamelplaats in de Marina lounche voor de tender , want we willen de eerste niet missen . Er zitten al een aantal enthousiastelingen te wachten en wij sluiten aan.
Het duurt nog wel een uurtje , maar daar geven we niet om . Dan volgt er een praatje van de kapitein vanaf de brug . Hij hoopt dat we kunnen tenderen , maar hij ziet het donker in vanwege de wind die ons en de medepassagiers toch niet zo sterk lijkt ….. Maar helaas , als we de Bounty bay invaren waar we moeten ankeren neemt de kapitein het besluit dat we niet aan land kunnen . Het waait te hard . dit is helaas het risico wat je loopt met tenderen . Wel héél jammer …….De kapitein besluit naar de andere kant van het eiland te varen en daar voor anker te gaan . Daar is het uit de wind en het water rustig . Als wij niet naar de wal kunnen , moet de wal maar naar het schip en al spoedig komt er een vrachtsloep met het halve eiland aan bevolking aanvaren . Deze grote sloepen zijn de vrachtschepen van het eiland , houten containers gaan als last onderin en de passagiers zitten op houten bankjes daarboven . Ze gaan een markt aan boord verzorgen . Maar het bloed kruipt ……..Het is een prachtige en intelligente vrouw van 43 en spreekt zeer goed . Het eiland op zich is een paradijs , het water er om heen heel schoon met een zicht van wel 65 meter . Er wonen nu 49 mensen op Pitcairn eiland , allemaal nazaten van de muiters . Het eiland is het enige stukje Groot Brittanië in de Pacific , omdat Christian de muiter gratie kreeg ( Postuum ) daar hij het eilandje tot christendom had gebracht …….Er zijn tien tijdelijke krachten op het eiland , zoals een dokter , een leraar ed . Telefoon is er sinds 2006 en er is satelliet verbinding voor internet , maar die werkt nog langzamer dan hier aan boord …..4 x per jaar kan men van het eiland af per schip of er weer naar toe , er is geen vliegstrook …..Tegenwoordig komen er wel een paar cruiseschepen langs , dit jaar zo’n 12 .
Wij hopen er morgen te komen en aan land te gaan wat nog maar zeer de vraag is , want er mag absoluut niet te veel wind staan , het schijnt moeilijk te zijn om daar te landen …… we zullen zien !

Hier een bericht vanaf de South Pacific Ocean.
Ik heb het nog steeds prima naar me zin en met een temperatuur van bijna 30 graden is het prima te doen hier zo. Naast dat er natuurlijk wel gewerkt moet worden is er genoeg tijd om middags even in mijn luie ligstoel van de zon te genieten onder het genot van een koud biertje.
Begin volgende week wordt het zwembad weer in elkaar gezet en kan ik ook weer even lekker afkoelen. Dat zal ook wel nodig zijn want rond panama zal de temperatuur in de machinekamer oplopen tot zo'n 40 a 45 graden.
We zijn pas iets meer als 1 week op zee maar dat hield me niet tegen om wilde avonturen te beleven.
Vandaag hebben we voor anker gelegen voor het eiland Pitcairn een zeer klein eilandje in de midden van de Pacific waar 76 mensen wonen. Deze mensen stammen af van de muiters van de Bounty.
Het was zo:
We aten om 12 uur iets vroeger dan normaal maar we moesten wat extra tijd vrij maken voor de markt.. …een markt op zee.. ja het is echt waar, een markt.
Om 1 uur waren we op 100 meter het eiland genaderd en gingen we ten anker.
Daarna zagen we al gauw een klein bootje vanuit de rimboe komen helemaal afgeladen met vis en vers fruit, souvenirs enzovoorts Ze praten allemaal vloeiend Engels en je kon echt zien dat er maar af en toe een schip kwam want wij waren de 2e in dit jaar pas. Ze zijn te vergelijken met mensen zoals Jack Sparrow uit de film Pirats of the Caribien.
In de messroom.(eet/relax ruimte) legden deze mensen al hun koopwaar uit. Betalen kon in euro,dollars maar voornamelijk werd en geruild.
Ik zelf heb een oude kaart van het eiland een Hawaï blouse en een T-shirt geruild voor 30 blikjes coke cola zero, wat voor hun een luxe was.
Na 2 uur druk onderhandelen waren de meesten dealen wel rond en werden er foto's gemaakt, nagepraat en ik was echt gefascineerd door deze mensen.
Hun manier van leven bestond uit vissen onderhoud aan huizen werktuigen etc. en souvenirs maken.
Beeldjes uit hout gesneden of T-shirts of postzegels. Het is jammer dat ik nog geen foto's online kan zetten omdat ik nog op zee zit maar de beelden zijn indrukwekkend.
Ik zou graag ook wel een paar maanden op zo'n eiland willen leven, wie weet.
Ze hebben daar zo sinds 1 jaar internet en een telefoon al die tijd ervoor was er haast geen contact met de buitenwereld mogelijk. Kortom een totaal andere manier van leven wat wij als Nederlanders haast niet kunnen voorstellen.
Jullie kunnen merken dat ik lekker enthousiast ben,maargoed voorlopig weer effe rustig qua avonturen eerst nog 2 weken op zee voordat we panama aandoen en dat zal ook wel een hele belevenis worden.

[message] => Alo allemaal,
Deze keer een berichtje vanaf de oceaan, driften voor een eilandje.. Het eilandje is Brits eigendom (hier helemaal?;) en wordt het Pitcairn Island genoemd.
Het is een groep van 4 eilanden en het is het laatste Brits grond gebied in de South Pacific. Dit eilandje is beroemd vanwege de laatste bewoners die er leven, nou ja de voorgangers daarvan dan, die rond 1790 de Bounty (een Engels marine schip) hebben gekaapt. Ze zijn met het schip verdwenen en op de Pitcairn eilanden aanbeland. Het schip is deels verbrand en het wrak is nog steeds te zien in Bounty Bay.
Op het mini eilandje (ongeveer 3,2 km lang en 1,5 km breed) wonen de afstammelingen van de kapers en het is nu de 6e generatie! Er wonen 60 mensen op het eiland en 50 daarvan kwamen er bij ons aan boord om leuke souveniertjes te verkopen! Dus de andere 10 bewaken het eiland!;) Het eilandje is het minst bevolkte eilandje ter wereld (alhoewel het geen land op zich is maar van Engeland.) Uiteraard was het dringen geblazen om van die (ex) piraten leuke dingen te kopen, ik heb dan ook een heel mooi boek (jaa das echt!:)) gekocht en een ansichtkaart. Waarop postzegels zitten, welke als ze gestempeld zijn op dit eiland veel geld waard zijn de positie van het eilandje is : 25°04’.0 S 130°06’.0 W dan kan je het opzoeken in de atlas of google earth.
Achja dat was wel geinig vandaag! We konden niet de wal, want dat zou gevaarlijk zijn omdat dan het hele eiland gesloopt zou worden door de toeristen.. dus dan maar drijven! Maarr we zijn net weer vertrokken en op weg naar Bora Bora!:) Naar men zegt is dat het paradijs op aarde! Zo mooi blijkbaar! Dus ik ben benieuwd! We komen er aan..
Maar vanavond nog eerst een party voor de crew op het forward mooring deck, betaald door een te rijke Nederlandse passagier!:) Heel gaaf dat ze aan de crew denkt natuurlijk!:) Dus dat beloofd wat te worden!
