In dit artikel nemen we je mee in de wereld van sim only-abonnementen voor reizigers. Niet te technisch, gewoon handige tips waar je écht iets aan hebt als je binnenkort op pad gaat.
Wat is sim only ook alweer?
Een sim only-abonnement betekent dat je alleen betaalt voor je mobiele bundel: belminuten, sms en data. Je krijgt dus geen toestel, wat het abonnement meestal een stuk goedkoper maakt. Ideaal als je al een goede telefoon hebt en liever je geld uitgeeft aan leuke dingen – zoals een extra nachtje in dat charmante B&B in Toscane.
Waarom is sim only zo handig voor op reis?
Een sim only is voor buitenlandgebruik vooral aantrekkelijk vanwege de flexibiliteit en controle. Alle Nederlandse providers bieden sinds 2017 EU-roaming aan, wat betekent dat je in veel Europese landen gewoon je bundel kunt gebruiken zonder extra kosten.
Dat betekent: geen gedoe met lokale simkaarten, geen onverwachte roamingfacturen, en gewoon bereikbaar blijven met je eigen nummer. Even de weg zoeken op Google Maps, je hotel reserveren via Booking.com of een foto sturen via WhatsApp – allemaal zonder zorgen.

Binnen de EU is dat meestal geen probleem. Je gebruikt daar gewoon je Nederlandse bundel. Buiten de EU is een ander verhaal. Dan betaal je vaak per MB en dat kan hard oplopen. Ga je bijvoorbeeld naar Turkije, Thailand of de VS? Check dan of je provider wereldbundels aanbiedt of koop ter plekke een lokale simkaart.
- 2. Staat roaming aan op je telefoon?
Een kleine instelling, groot verschil. Ga naar je netwerkinstellingen en zorg dat ‘roaming’ is ingeschakeld. Geen zorgen: zolang je binnen de EU blijft en je bundel geldig is, brengt dit geen extra kosten met zich mee. Buiten de EU kun je roaming juist beter uitzetten, tenzij je bewust een buitenbundeloptie hebt gekozen.
- 3. Pas je bundel aan voor vertrek
Weet je dat je op vakantie meer data verbruikt dan thuis (hallo, Instagramstories en Google Maps)? Kies dan tijdelijk voor een grotere databundel. Bij veel sim only-aanbieders kun je je bundel maandelijks aanpassen. Zo blijf je flexibel én binnen budget.
Slimme bespaartips voor onderweg
Zelfs met een goede bundel is het slim om spaarzaam met je data om te gaan. Je wilt tenslotte je MB’s gebruiken om je weg te vinden, niet om automatische updates te installeren.
Hier een paar praktische hacks:
- Download kaarten van tevoren. In Google Maps kun je gebieden offline opslaan. Handig én zuinig.
- Gebruik een databesparende browser. Denk aan Google Chrome met databesparing aan.
- Schakel automatische updates uit. Zowel voor apps als je besturingssysteem.
- Gebruik WiFi verstandig. In cafés of hotels is vaak gratis WiFi, maar pas op met openbare netwerken: gebruik een VPN als je gevoelige info invoert.
Hoe zit het met bellen en voicemail?
Binnen de EU bel je ook gewoon uit je bundel. Maar let op: voicemail beluisteren in het buitenland kan extra kosten met zich meebrengen, vooral buiten Europa. Zet je voicemail dus uit als je die niet nodig hebt, of laat mensen via WhatsApp contact opnemen. Wel zo 2025.
En buiten Europa dan?
Ga je naar een land buiten de EU, dan is een sim only-abonnement minder vanzelfsprekend. Dan kun je kiezen uit:
- Een wereldbundel bij je provider. Handig voor korte reizen of als je op meerdere plekken bent.
- Een lokale simkaart. Vaak goedkoper, maar je hebt wel een simlockvrije telefoon nodig en soms wat geduld bij het activeren.
- Een eSIM. Steeds meer telefoons ondersteunen dit digitale alternatief. Zo kun je twee abonnementen tegelijk gebruiken, bijvoorbeeld je Nederlandse nummer én een lokale data-optie.

Soms lijken onze grootste reisavonturen financieel (net) buiten bereik. Sparen is een optie, maar wat als je niet langer wilt wachten om je passie te volgen? Een persoonlijke lening kan dan een interessante mogelijkheid zijn om die dromen sneller te realiseren. Maar wat houdt zo'n lening precies in en is het wel een verstandige keuze voor jouw reisplannen?
Reizen kost (vaak veel) geld
Als reiziger komen er diverse kostenposten kijken bij het plannen en uitvoeren van je avontuur. Mountainbiken is de perfecte manier om de natuur te verkennen, je hoofd leeg te maken en jezelf fysiek uit te dagen. Of je nu houdt van technische trails vol boomwortels en rotsen of liever lange, glooiende bospaden rijdt, er is altijd wel een route die bij jouw niveau past. In Nederland en daarbuiten zijn er talloze geweldige mountainbikeroutes te vinden. Pak je fiets, trek je helm strak en ontdek deze toffe plekken om te rijden!
Mountainbikeroutes in Nederland
Je hoeft echt niet naar het buitenland om mooie trails te rijden. Nederland heeft verrassend veel gave MTB-routes, van snelle singletracks tot uitdagende klimmetjes. De Utrechtse Heuvelrug is bijvoorbeeld een hotspot voor mountainbikers. Denk aan routes zoals die van Amerongen en Leersum, die bekendstaan om hun technische secties en snelle afdalingen. Ook in het zuiden van het land vind je fantastische trails. Denk aan in Zuid-Limburg, waar je bijna een buitenlands gevoel krijgt door de steile hellingen en smalle paadjes. Duitsland heeft de Eifel en het Zwarte Woud, waar je eindeloos kunt klimmen en afdalen. Voor wie echt een uitdaging zoekt, is de Alpenregio dé plek. In gebieden zoals de Franse Alpen of het Oostenrijkse Tirol vind je spectaculaire downhill-trails en bikeparks waar je je grenzen kunt verleggen.

Oefen dan je lichaamspositie en leer hoe je remmen optimaal gebruikt zonder grip te verliezen. Ik heb de wekker op 5 uur staan en kom er wat later uit. Het restaurant is nog dicht. Ik begin om het eiland te lopen. Het is pas 7 uur en ga ontbijten bij het Menen hotel. Trouwens ik ben op historische grond. Toen ik met Gilbert Veldhuizen werd beroofd in Marokko, bevond de directeur van het Christelijke reisbureau zich op dit eiland. Och, och wat een zegen was het voor hem om toen dit land te mogen bezoeken. Toen hij vernam van ons euvel, heeft hij mij collect-call opgebeld. Hij had het over Nauru en over het goed maken en dat hij geen geld bij zich had om het telefoongesprek te betalen. Het goed maken moet nog gebeuren. Er zijn al bijna 14 jaren verstreken en ik heb de “Gods zij met ons” nog niet mogen ontvangen. Wat een goedertierenheid, dat hij zich voor het refo volk zo mag inzetten, met alle ziel en lichaam. Och, och, amen. Sindsdien vertoef ik mij onder de heidense reisbureaus, met reizen op al de 7 dagen, och och. God noch gebod, maar oprechter dan menig vrome klootzak (Rob de Nijs met “MalleBabbe”). Ik laat me niet verzieken door het verleden. Ik ga maar door. Voordat ik nog meer afgeef en dat doe je niet. De wereld zou er schande van spreken: “Zie je wel ‘s zondags Vroom en ’s maandags Dreesmann”. Een grootouder van JJ refererend. Voor mij is het ook een historisch moment. Ik ben in mijn 185ste land. Wie het kleine niet eert is het grote niet weert. Het is om zeven uur net licht. Om echt de ronde te lopen, loop ik ook echt om het vliegveld heen. Een mammie laat zich met haar kind fotograferen. Bij het parlement zet de Aussie Simon me op de foto. Aussies helpen hier op alle niveaus. Langs de kerk en vissende mannen. Op zee vaart een bootje. Mannen worden voor het werk opgehaald. Op naar de oostkust met de regeringsgebouwen. Je zou ze bijna over het hoofd zien. Ik zie, dat het presidentieel paleis in de buurt is. Berg op dus. Maar na vragen, blijkt de huidige president ergens anders te zitten. Niet erg, ik snij een stukje af. Na twee uur lopen kom ik bij het Menen hotel aan. Er worden extra kamers gebouwd, want het dumpen van economische kolonisten verschaft heel veel werk. Al die Mauro’s wordt het zo aantrekkelijk gemakkelijk gemaakt om weer op te zouten naar hun land. Persoonlijk een goede zaak. We zijn veel te lief te dat spul. Komt waarschijnlijk door ons eigen koloniale verleden. Ik ontbijt uitgebreid in het hotel. De koffie zit bij het ontbijt in en ik hoef maar één extra te betalen. Hier vertoeven veel Australische expats. Ze zitten in de mijnbouw, kolonistenvraagstuk of ondersteuning van het bestuur van het land. Na anderhalf uur ben ik genoeg op krachten gekomen om verder te gaan. Door de koffie moet ik eerst naar een zekere plaats. Wat een wc in dit hotel. Alleen bij de dames is papier en hij kan ook niet op slot. Gelukkig komt niemand naar binnen om mijn henkie te aanschouwen. Bij de opbouw van extra kamers heeft een Australiër de leiding. Hij is geboren in Oostenrijk. Mooi voor hem, maar dat is wel een ander land. In de vorige EK ook in de eerste ronde uitgeschakeld. Net voor de Japanse kanonnen gaat het regenen. Ik moet een hele tijd schuilen. Dat kost me weer ruim een half uur. Ik had hiervoor een dood muisje gezien. Het werd door de mieren opgeruimd. Zijn hoofdje was al helemaal kaal. Als het weer bijna droog is ga ik naar de kanonnen. Eén staat wel erg dicht bij een huis. Het lijkt wel de hamas. Ik denk, dat het huis er later is neergezet. Als het weer gaat regenen, doe ik mijn camera in plastic. Na de enige boerderij met kippen en varkens ga ik schuilen bij een chinees. Als ik later een foto wil maken. Blijkt mijn camera stuk te zijn. De flitser komt spontaan omhoog en er zijn problemen tussen de communicatie van de camera met de lens. Binnen een half jaar is mij tweede camera stuk. Ik laat me naar het hotel brengen en haal mijn onderwatercamera op. Ik heb dan al extra batterijen ingeslagen. Door het schuilen en ophalen van de andere camera verspeel ik weer 5 kwartier. Het is al kwart over twee en normaal loop je in vier uur om het eiland. Het gaat wel wat sneller. Eerst de supermarkt van Capelland Partners en dan naar het Kayser College. Ja, Nauru was eens en Duitse kolonie. Ook hier lat ik me weer fotograferen. En verder gaat de tocht. Een jongen belt met mobieltje, terwijl hij op het graf van iemand zit. Rond vier uur ben ik al bij het ziekenhuis en de sportvelden. Ik kom de Australiër weer tegen en neem eerst een drankje. Tegenover de enige ambassade, de High Commission van Australië loop ik over een pad tussen al het afgegraven grond. Alleen koraalpieken zijn nog te zien. Een jongen zegt me, dat ik terug moet lopen en bij het derde pad linksaf moet. Ik kom weer bij de aussies uit. Ik loop vandaar naar de Tankweg en de weg naar de lagune. Daar is een pad naar de Command Ridge. Twee trimmers zeggen, dat ik bij een pad al snel een paadje moet nemen. Ik zie het niet. Twee jongens een eindje verderop lopen voor me uit. Stoor ik ze bij het vogels vangen. Het is echt het pad, dat ik eerst niet zag. We lopen naar beneden en rechts om een boom verder. Ik kom op het pad waar ik om 17 uur ook was. Nu is het al bijna donker en 19 uur. Ik loop naar de beneden naar de weg. Ik kan geen drinken meer kopen en loop door naar het hotel. De camera doet het nog steeds niet. Dat wordt winkelen in Singapore. Ik laat me naar het Bay restaurant aan de andere kant van het land brengen. De kip curry is wel lekker, maar ik had het veel goedkoper naast het hotel kunnen eten. Er is ook een albinomeisje. Ze is met moeder mee naar een kerstviering van de vrouwen vereniging. Er worden Kerstliedjes gezongen en cadeaus gegeven. Ik heb zo weer een lift terug. De mensen hebben hier ure tweedehands auto’s. De dames heeft er één van 18 duizend dollar en het vervoer naar Nauru was ook nog eens 8 duizend. Ze kunnen het geld ook niet aan vakanties uitgeven. Een retourtje Brisbane is al duizend euro en daar ben ook vanuit Brisbane in bijna de rest van de planeet komen. Naast mijn hotel neem ik nog een afzakkertje. De tent gaat sluiten en de gordijnen gaan dicht. Nu begrijp ik het. Ze zeggen, dat ze vanmorgen vroeg wel open waren. Dus, als de gordijnen open zijn is de zaak open. Om elf uur ga ik slapen.

Het klokje tikt door. Het klikt nergens zoals thuis. Dar is geen airco nodig. Het is al half een geweest, als ik me naar de eerste vlucht op maandag begeef. Een half Kiribatse is nog driftig aan het computeren. Het bier is me te duur, dus blijf ik op een droogje zitten. De bodem van de schatkist is in zicht. Wanner iemand geld over wil maken, geef ik mijn rekeningnummer door. Het is hetzelfde rekeningnummer van armlastige volgelingen van San Cristobal. Een ploeg gewichtheffers gaan ook terug naar hun land. Daar zijn de Pacifische sporters op Pacifisch niveau groot. Er is eens een Micronesiër 6de geworden op de Olympische Spelen geworden. Daar spreken ze nog over. In zwemmen zijn ze niet zo goed. Het is ook zover om van eiland naar eiland baantjes te trekken. Voor teamsporten zijn ze klein. Eén uitzondering dan. Samoa, Tonga en Fiji horen bij de wereldtop van rugby. Ze presteren beter op een WK, dan Nederland op een Ek met voetbal. Ik zet om half een mijn schreden in het enige toestel van Our Airline. Om 1.05 vertrekken we dan. We krijgen een drankje en eten. Goed voor mekaar. Al gauw krijgen we ontbijt, omdat er twee uur tijd verschil is. We landen kwart over zeven in het kleinste land, op het Vaticaan na. Het heeft een omtrek van 18 kilometer en een doorsnede van 6 bij 5 kilometer met 10 duizend inwoners. Als ik door de immigratie ben, moet ik heel lang wachten op Veronica Homestead, die iets voor mij heeft geregeld. Ze komt aankakken, als iedereen en het vliegtuig weg zijn. Het gaat goed met Our Airline. Ze vliegen naar the Marshalls via Tarawa. Raadpleeg google maps. Veronica en haar maatje brengen me naar het huis, waar ik een slaapkamer krijg voor 115 AUS. Ik vind dit verschrikkelijk veel. Het is 100 AUS voor de eigenaar en 15 voor. Ik zeg: “Het logo van Nauru is “Only Gods will”, maar dit kan hij niet bedoeld hebben.” We rijden naar het Od-N-Aiwohotel, daar is een kamer voor 100. Die neem ik. Na even rusten loop ik naar de Buala Lagoon. Ze noemen di “the Water”. Een klimmetje, naar links en dan ben je bij het plasje. Er staan wat huizen en een kerk. Ik zie een meisje van het vliegtuig. Een stop voor een cola. De boel is hier een stuk goedkoper, dan in Australië. De mensen zijn hier aardig. Dan mag gezegd worden. Heb ik bij deze gedaan. Ik zie ze alleen maar eten. Veel zwaargewichten in mijn sociale omgeving vallen ook in het niet bij deze Boelimieten. Ik loop langs een paar ligjongeren. Een moet dronken zijn, want hij gooit een kei naar me en niet ver. Omdat ik geen boelimiet ben, ben ik niet gemakkelijk te raken. De laatste keer, dat een steen naar mij werd gegooid, was een klein vriendje van van Agt en Gretta Trut, een Palestijns hondje in Ramallah. Maar wat wil je, als de Zionisten je land hebben bezet. Ha ha, die fantastische Zionisten. Volgend jaar weer een feestje. 65 jaar Israël. Hava na kila hava. En door met mijn verslag. Ik loop bij het postkantoor de enige ansichtkaarten. Het grappige is, dat er al porto op zit. Om het vliegveld naar de regeringsgebouwen. Het centrale politiegebouw, het parlement en dan de bureaucraten. Ik spreek de man van immigratie. Het was beter geweest, dat ik de 100 Aus had overgemaakt. Dit is waarschijnlijk het enige land op aarde zonder pinautomaat, mar ik had wel geld over kunnen maken. Ik geef hem na een verblijf onder een airco het geld en krijg een kwitantie. Auto’s hebben soms geen voorruit. Ik bezoek nog even de katholieke kerk en loop terug. Ik zet een paar meisje op de foto, omdat één zo dik is. Wat een gegiechel. Bij de chinees haal ik een cola om enige afkoeling te hebben. Ik krijg van een Australische een lift naar het hotel en rust daar even uit. Bij de buren eet ik varken en zoet en zuur. Dat is in het Nederlands babi pangan. Even wegspoelen en dan om elf uur slapen. Nog en week en dan weer Pauw en Witteman.

[message] => De reis naar huis zit er op. Op 15 januari hebben wij om 7 uur het hotel in Cartagena verlaten om met de bus te vertrekken naar het vliegveld.
Jacques en ik zaten in de eerste groep en wij vertrokken , na de nodige vertraging met het vliegtuig van 11.45 uur naar Bogota , reisduur ongeveer 1.15 uur. Door de vertraging moesten we op Bogota meteen door om in te checken op de vlucht naar Panama.Ook hier weer vertraging ( technische problemen ) en om 17 uur in Panama. Daar was het een chaos bij het verkrijgen van de boardingpassen voor de vlucht naar Amaterdam. Deze moest om 19 uur vertrekken , maar vertrok pas om 20 uur omdat niet al onze koffers op tijd waren ingeladen. De reis van Panama naar Amsterdam verliep verder vlekkeloos, ondanks de vertraging waren we op tijd in Amsterdam. alle deelnemers en alle auto's hebben de reis volbracht en dat is best opmerkelijk als je je realiseert dat zo'n 85 auto's ieder ongeveer 17.000km hebben afgelegd over soms barre wegen , tropische temperaturen en duizenden km's bergwegen .Nu uitrusten en het tijdverschil weer wegwerken.We kijken terug op een fantastische reis en hebben nu even de tijd om alle indrukken te verwerken en ons bewust te worden van alles wat we gezien en beleefd hebben.

[message] => Ha allemaal. Ik ben weer terug op Nederlandse bodem. Vanmorgen om half 7 zijn we geland op Schiphol. Koud man! Wat een kikkerlandje. Haha, kwam ik aan met een legging en schoentjes. Brr… Ik val een beetje in een gat, maar het is toch ook wel weer fijn om thuis te zijn. We hebben een goede vlucht gehad, het ging allemaal heel snel. Ook bij de douane op Curaçao. Als je het eiland op wilt, doen ze moeilijk, maar als je terug wilt, geven ze je het liefst een trap na ;). Nee hoor, dat is ook weer overdreven, maar ze deden nu lang niet zo moeilijk als op de terugweg. Alleen de drugscontrole is erg streng: met van die honden gaan ze langs je bagage enzo. Zelfs toen we terug waren in Nederland moesten we weer uitgebreid door de controle. Blijkbaar wordt er toch nog heel veel drugs gesmokkeld van en naar Curaçao. Maar goed, ik ga mn winterkleren tevoorschijn halen, mn jetlag wegwerken (ik heb vannacht in het vliegtuig werkelijk geen oog dichtgedaan en ben nu al ruim 24 uur wakker), en wennen aan minimaal 30 graden temperatuursverschil.
Voordat ik jullie ga ‘verlaten’ heb ik nog iets leuks. We hebben afgelopen zaterdag namelijk een fotoshoot gedaan op het strand, met een echte fotografe. Erg leuk. We hebben een CD meegekregen met maar liefst 94 foto’s. Een aantal foto’s staan op haar weblog. Voor degene die benieuwd is: http://www.photoflashme.blogspot.com/. Moet je wel even naar beneden scrollen, je ziet eerst een aantal babyfoto’s. Was echt super leuk zo’n shoot. Dan heb je – naast de ‘gewone’ vakantiefoto’s – ook een aantal mooie foto’s als herinnering. Ik kon dat jullie alleen niet vertellen omdat ik Johan wilde verrassen;). Schattig he:p.
Nou, dat was het hele Curaçao avontuur dan. Pfft.. wat is het snel gegaan, ongelooflijk! Nu kan ik nog even bijkomen, genieten van alle herinneringen en vanaf maandag weer volop aan de bak! Tot spreeks allemaal.

[message] => Afgelopen vrijdag, 17.00 uur lokale tijd, hebben we een soort van eerste versie van onze scriptie naar Nederland verstuurd. Na ruim een week van minimaal 9 uur achter de computer zitten was dit een mooi moment. Dit gaf ons ook een paar dagen vrij dus er zijn heel snel treinkaartjes gekocht en een hostel geboekt want Moskou moest nog gezien worden!
Verschillende mensen die al in Moskou waren geweest hadden verteld dat het echt een gekkenhuis is. Het is druk, chaotisch, onvriendelijke mensen, niemand spreekt Engels en het metronetwerk is het grootste doolhof dat er bestaat.
Met dit in ons achterhoofd stapten we zondagmorgen de trein uit….
Ons hostel was met een beetje hulp van Engels en Duits sprekende mensen snel gevonden, de tassen werden gedropt, de zon scheen en de verkenning van de stad kon beginnen.
Op zondag zijn er naast de gebruikelijke stroom buitenlandse toeristen, ook heel veel Russische toeristen. De rij voor musea e.d. was daarom ook enorm, het leek wel de Efteling.
We begonnen daarom ook maar een beetje buiten de stad.
Maandag was de dag dat we op het Rode Plein begonnen. St. Basils Cathedral die aan de rand van het plein staat is één van de pronkstukken van de stad…. maar naar mijn mening is het echt een heeeeeeel lelijk ding. Ivan de Verschrikkelijke heeft de ogen van de Italiaanse ontwerper uit laten steken zodat hij nooit meer zoiets moois kon maken, maar ik had hem zijn ogen uit laten steken omdat het zo foei-lelijk is!
Daarna bij het Kremlin naar binnen. Het was wel mooi om hier rond te lopen (erg jammer alleen dat heel veel kerken en gebouwen dicht waren) omdat ik veel al op tv had gezien tijdens de inauguratie van president Medvedev. Ik had het me alleen iets anders voorgesteld, misschien wel een stuk indrukwekkender…
Dinsdagmorgen was het dan tijd om bij Lenin op de koffie te gaan. Hij ligt in een mausuleum in het centrum van het Rode Plein. Het was opnieuw behoorlijk indrukwekkend om een leider van een dergelijk kaliber te zien maar ik vond het Mausuleum van Mao in Beijing toch mooier. Dat was allemaal veel groter en statiger.
Het hele Rode Plein staat trouwens al een week lang in het teken van de finale van de Champions League. Er is een klein voetbalstadion, supporters-stands en andere merchandise en de echte fans kunnen met de cup op de foto. Er zijn ongeveer 40.000 Engelse voetbalsupporters in de stad en hun toegangsbewijs tot de wedstrijd geldt als een tijdelijk visum. Ik vind het wel jammer dat ik nu net deze wedstrijd mis.
Ik vond 3 dagen Moskou wel erg gaaf, een stad die je wel gezien moet hebben. Met een goede kaart kan iedereen zich er gemakkelijk redden en ook al wordt deze stad gezien als de duurste van Europa, zo heb ik hem niet ervaren. Het metronetwerk is een grote puzzel maar er zijn altijd wel mensen aan wie je kunt vragen waar je bent.
Maar toen ik vanmorgen weer in St. Petersburg aankwam was ik blij om weer thuis te zijn. Nu is het nog een dag wachten op een reactie van onze afstudeerbegeleider en dan kan er weer heel hard gewerkt gaan worden.

Ik heb de wekker op 5 uur staan en kom er wat later uit. Het restaurant is nog dicht. Ik begin om het eiland te lopen. Het is pas 7 uur en ga ontbijten bij het Menen hotel. Trouwens ik ben op historische grond. Toen ik met Gilbert Veldhuizen werd beroofd in Marokko, bevond de directeur van het Christelijke reisbureau zich op dit eiland. Och, och wat een zegen was het voor hem om toen dit land te mogen bezoeken. Toen hij vernam van ons euvel, heeft hij mij collect-call opgebeld. Hij had het over Nauru en over het goed maken en dat hij geen geld bij zich had om het telefoongesprek te betalen. Het goed maken moet nog gebeuren. Er zijn al bijna 14 jaren verstreken en ik heb de “Gods zij met ons” nog niet mogen ontvangen. Wat een goedertierenheid, dat hij zich voor het refo volk zo mag inzetten, met alle ziel en lichaam. Och, och, amen. Sindsdien vertoef ik mij onder de heidense reisbureaus, met reizen op al de 7 dagen, och och. God noch gebod, maar oprechter dan menig vrome klootzak (Rob de Nijs met “MalleBabbe”). Ik laat me niet verzieken door het verleden. Ik ga maar door. Voordat ik nog meer afgeef en dat doe je niet. De wereld zou er schande van spreken: “Zie je wel ‘s zondags Vroom en ’s maandags Dreesmann”. Een grootouder van JJ refererend. Voor mij is het ook een historisch moment. Ik ben in mijn 185ste land. Wie het kleine niet eert is het grote niet weert. Het is om zeven uur net licht. Om echt de ronde te lopen, loop ik ook echt om het vliegveld heen. Een mammie laat zich met haar kind fotograferen. Bij het parlement zet de Aussie Simon me op de foto. Aussies helpen hier op alle niveaus. Langs de kerk en vissende mannen. Op zee vaart een bootje. Mannen worden voor het werk opgehaald. Op naar de oostkust met de regeringsgebouwen. Je zou ze bijna over het hoofd zien. Ik zie, dat het presidentieel paleis in de buurt is. Berg op dus. Maar na vragen, blijkt de huidige president ergens anders te zitten. Niet erg, ik snij een stukje af. Na twee uur lopen kom ik bij het Menen hotel aan. Er worden extra kamers gebouwd, want het dumpen van economische kolonisten verschaft heel veel werk. Al die Mauro’s wordt het zo aantrekkelijk gemakkelijk gemaakt om weer op te zouten naar hun land. Persoonlijk een goede zaak. We zijn veel te lief te dat spul. Komt waarschijnlijk door ons eigen koloniale verleden. Ik ontbijt uitgebreid in het hotel. De koffie zit bij het ontbijt in en ik hoef maar één extra te betalen. Hier vertoeven veel Australische expats. Ze zitten in de mijnbouw, kolonistenvraagstuk of ondersteuning van het bestuur van het land. Na anderhalf uur ben ik genoeg op krachten gekomen om verder te gaan. Door de koffie moet ik eerst naar een zekere plaats. Wat een wc in dit hotel. Alleen bij de dames is papier en hij kan ook niet op slot. Gelukkig komt niemand naar binnen om mijn henkie te aanschouwen. Bij de opbouw van extra kamers heeft een Australiër de leiding. Hij is geboren in Oostenrijk. Mooi voor hem, maar dat is wel een ander land. In de vorige EK ook in de eerste ronde uitgeschakeld. Net voor de Japanse kanonnen gaat het regenen. Ik moet een hele tijd schuilen. Dat kost me weer ruim een half uur. Ik had hiervoor een dood muisje gezien. Het werd door de mieren opgeruimd. Zijn hoofdje was al helemaal kaal. Als het weer bijna droog is ga ik naar de kanonnen. Eén staat wel erg dicht bij een huis. Het lijkt wel de hamas. Ik denk, dat het huis er later is neergezet. Als het weer gaat regenen, doe ik mijn camera in plastic. Na de enige boerderij met kippen en varkens ga ik schuilen bij een chinees. Als ik later een foto wil maken. Blijkt mijn camera stuk te zijn. De flitser komt spontaan omhoog en er zijn problemen tussen de communicatie van de camera met de lens. Binnen een half jaar is mij tweede camera stuk. Ik laat me naar het hotel brengen en haal mijn onderwatercamera op. Ik heb dan al extra batterijen ingeslagen. Door het schuilen en ophalen van de andere camera verspeel ik weer 5 kwartier. Het is al kwart over twee en normaal loop je in vier uur om het eiland. Het gaat wel wat sneller. Eerst de supermarkt van Capelland Partners en dan naar het Kayser College. Ja, Nauru was eens en Duitse kolonie. Ook hier lat ik me weer fotograferen. En verder gaat de tocht. Een jongen belt met mobieltje, terwijl hij op het graf van iemand zit. Rond vier uur ben ik al bij het ziekenhuis en de sportvelden. Ik kom de Australiër weer tegen en neem eerst een drankje. Tegenover de enige ambassade, de High Commission van Australië loop ik over een pad tussen al het afgegraven grond. Alleen koraalpieken zijn nog te zien. Een jongen zegt me, dat ik terug moet lopen en bij het derde pad linksaf moet. Ik kom weer bij de aussies uit. Ik loop vandaar naar de Tankweg en de weg naar de lagune. Daar is een pad naar de Command Ridge. Twee trimmers zeggen, dat ik bij een pad al snel een paadje moet nemen. Ik zie het niet. Twee jongens een eindje verderop lopen voor me uit. Stoor ik ze bij het vogels vangen. Het is echt het pad, dat ik eerst niet zag. We lopen naar beneden en rechts om een boom verder. Ik kom op het pad waar ik om 17 uur ook was. Nu is het al bijna donker en 19 uur. Ik loop naar de beneden naar de weg. Ik kan geen drinken meer kopen en loop door naar het hotel. De camera doet het nog steeds niet. Dat wordt winkelen in Singapore. Ik laat me naar het Bay restaurant aan de andere kant van het land brengen. De kip curry is wel lekker, maar ik had het veel goedkoper naast het hotel kunnen eten. Er is ook een albinomeisje. Ze is met moeder mee naar een kerstviering van de vrouwen vereniging. Er worden Kerstliedjes gezongen en cadeaus gegeven. Ik heb zo weer een lift terug. De mensen hebben hier ure tweedehands auto’s. De dames heeft er één van 18 duizend dollar en het vervoer naar Nauru was ook nog eens 8 duizend. Ze kunnen het geld ook niet aan vakanties uitgeven. Een retourtje Brisbane is al duizend euro en daar ben ook vanuit Brisbane in bijna de rest van de planeet komen. Naast mijn hotel neem ik nog een afzakkertje. De tent gaat sluiten en de gordijnen gaan dicht. Nu begrijp ik het. Ze zeggen, dat ze vanmorgen vroeg wel open waren. Dus, als de gordijnen open zijn is de zaak open. Om elf uur ga ik slapen.

Het klokje tikt door. Het klikt nergens zoals thuis. Dar is geen airco nodig. Het is al half een geweest, als ik me naar de eerste vlucht op maandag begeef. Een half Kiribatse is nog driftig aan het computeren. Het bier is me te duur, dus blijf ik op een droogje zitten. De bodem van de schatkist is in zicht. Wanner iemand geld over wil maken, geef ik mijn rekeningnummer door. Het is hetzelfde rekeningnummer van armlastige volgelingen van San Cristobal. Een ploeg gewichtheffers gaan ook terug naar hun land. Daar zijn de Pacifische sporters op Pacifisch niveau groot. Er is eens een Micronesiër 6de geworden op de Olympische Spelen geworden. Daar spreken ze nog over. In zwemmen zijn ze niet zo goed. Het is ook zover om van eiland naar eiland baantjes te trekken. Voor teamsporten zijn ze klein. Eén uitzondering dan. Samoa, Tonga en Fiji horen bij de wereldtop van rugby. Ze presteren beter op een WK, dan Nederland op een Ek met voetbal. Ik zet om half een mijn schreden in het enige toestel van Our Airline. Om 1.05 vertrekken we dan. We krijgen een drankje en eten. Goed voor mekaar. Al gauw krijgen we ontbijt, omdat er twee uur tijd verschil is. Na even rusten loop ik naar de Buala Lagoon. Ze noemen di “the Water”. Een klimmetje, naar links en dan ben je bij het plasje. Er staan wat huizen en een kerk. Ik zie een meisje van het vliegtuig. Een stop voor een cola. De boel is hier een stuk goedkoper, dan in Australië. De mensen zijn hier aardig. Dan mag gezegd worden. Heb ik bij deze gedaan. Ik zie ze alleen maar eten. Veel zwaargewichten in mijn sociale omgeving vallen ook in het niet bij deze Boelimieten. Ik loop langs een paar ligjongeren. Een moet dronken zijn, want hij gooit een kei naar me en niet ver. Omdat ik geen boelimiet ben, ben ik niet gemakkelijk te raken. De laatste keer, dat een steen naar mij werd gegooid, was een klein vriendje van van Agt en Gretta Trut, een Palestijns hondje in Ramallah. Maar wat wil je, als de Zionisten je land hebben bezet. Ha ha, die fantastische Zionisten. Volgend jaar weer een feestje. 65 jaar Israël. Hava na kila hava. En door met mijn verslag. Ik loop bij het postkantoor de enige ansichtkaarten. Het grappige is, dat er al porto op zit. Om het vliegveld naar de regeringsgebouwen. Het centrale politiegebouw, het parlement en dan de bureaucraten. Ik spreek de man van immigratie. Het was beter geweest, dat ik de 100 Aus had overgemaakt. Dit is waarschijnlijk het enige land op aarde zonder pinautomaat, mar ik had wel geld over kunnen maken. Ik geef hem na een verblijf onder een airco het geld en krijg een kwitantie. Auto’s hebben soms geen voorruit. Ik bezoek nog even de katholieke kerk en loop terug. Ik zet een paar meisje op de foto, omdat één zo dik is. Wat een gegiechel. Bij de chinees haal ik een cola om enige afkoeling te hebben. Ik krijg van een Australische een lift naar het hotel en rust daar even uit. Bij de buren eet ik varken en zoet en zuur. Dat is in het Nederlands babi pangan. Even wegspoelen en dan om elf uur slapen. Nog en week en dan weer Pauw en Witteman.

[message] => De reis naar huis zit er op. Op 15 januari hebben wij om 7 uur het hotel in Cartagena verlaten om met de bus te vertrekken naar het vliegveld.
Jacques en ik zaten in de eerste groep en wij vertrokken , na de nodige vertraging met het vliegtuig van 11.45 uur naar Bogota , reisduur ongeveer 1.15 uur. Door de vertraging moesten we op Bogota meteen door om in te checken op de vlucht naar Panama.Ook hier weer vertraging ( technische problemen ) en om 17 uur in Panama. Daar was het een chaos bij het verkrijgen van de boardingpassen voor de vlucht naar Amaterdam. Deze moest om 19 uur vertrekken , maar vertrok pas om 20 uur omdat niet al onze koffers op tijd waren ingeladen. De reis van Panama naar Amsterdam verliep verder vlekkeloos, ondanks de vertraging waren we op tijd in Amsterdam. alle deelnemers en alle auto's hebben de reis volbracht en dat is best opmerkelijk als je je realiseert dat zo'n 85 auto's ieder ongeveer 17.000km hebben afgelegd over soms barre wegen , tropische temperaturen en duizenden km's bergwegen .Nu uitrusten en het tijdverschil weer wegwerken.We kijken terug op een fantastische reis en hebben nu even de tijd om alle indrukken te verwerken en ons bewust te worden van alles wat we gezien en beleefd hebben.

[message] => Ha allemaal. Ik ben weer terug op Nederlandse bodem. Vanmorgen om half 7 zijn we geland op Schiphol. Koud man! Wat een kikkerlandje. Haha, kwam ik aan met een legging en schoentjes. Brr… Ik val een beetje in een gat, maar het is toch ook wel weer fijn om thuis te zijn. We hebben een goede vlucht gehad, het ging allemaal heel snel. Ook bij de douane op Curaçao. Als je het eiland op wilt, doen ze moeilijk, maar als je terug wilt, geven ze je het liefst een trap na ;). Nee hoor, dat is ook weer overdreven, maar ze deden nu lang niet zo moeilijk als op de terugweg. Alleen de drugscontrole is erg streng: met van die honden gaan ze langs je bagage enzo. Zelfs toen we terug waren in Nederland moesten we weer uitgebreid door de controle. Blijkbaar wordt er toch nog heel veel drugs gesmokkeld van en naar Curaçao. Maar goed, ik ga mn winterkleren tevoorschijn halen, mn jetlag wegwerken (ik heb vannacht in het vliegtuig werkelijk geen oog dichtgedaan en ben nu al ruim 24 uur wakker), en wennen aan minimaal 30 graden temperatuursverschil.
Voordat ik jullie ga ‘verlaten’ heb ik nog iets leuks. We hebben afgelopen zaterdag namelijk een fotoshoot gedaan op het strand, met een echte fotografe. Erg leuk. We hebben een CD meegekregen met maar liefst 94 foto’s. Een aantal foto’s staan op haar weblog. Voor degene die benieuwd is: http://www.photoflashme.blogspot.com/. Moet je wel even naar beneden scrollen, je ziet eerst een aantal babyfoto’s. Was echt super leuk zo’n shoot. Dan heb je – naast de ‘gewone’ vakantiefoto’s – ook een aantal mooie foto’s als herinnering. Ik kon dat jullie alleen niet vertellen omdat ik Johan wilde verrassen;). Schattig he:p.
Nou, dat was het hele Curaçao avontuur dan. Pfft.. wat is het snel gegaan, ongelooflijk! Nu kan ik nog even bijkomen, genieten van alle herinneringen en vanaf maandag weer volop aan de bak! Tot spreeks allemaal.

[message] => Afgelopen vrijdag, 17.00 uur lokale tijd, hebben we een soort van eerste versie van onze scriptie naar Nederland verstuurd. Na ruim een week van minimaal 9 uur achter de computer zitten was dit een mooi moment. Dit gaf ons ook een paar dagen vrij dus er zijn heel snel treinkaartjes gekocht en een hostel geboekt want Moskou moest nog gezien worden!
Verschillende mensen die al in Moskou waren geweest hadden verteld dat het echt een gekkenhuis is. Het is druk, chaotisch, onvriendelijke mensen, niemand spreekt Engels en het metronetwerk is het grootste doolhof dat er bestaat.
Met dit in ons achterhoofd stapten we zondagmorgen de trein uit….
Ons hostel was met een beetje hulp van Engels en Duits sprekende mensen snel gevonden, de tassen werden gedropt, de zon scheen en de verkenning van de stad kon beginnen.
Op zondag zijn er naast de gebruikelijke stroom buitenlandse toeristen, ook heel veel Russische toeristen. De rij voor musea e.d. was daarom ook enorm, het leek wel de Efteling.
We begonnen daarom ook maar een beetje buiten de stad.
Maandag was de dag dat we op het Rode Plein begonnen. St. Basils Cathedral die aan de rand van het plein staat is één van de pronkstukken van de stad…. maar naar mijn mening is het echt een heeeeeeel lelijk ding. Ivan de Verschrikkelijke heeft de ogen van de Italiaanse ontwerper uit laten steken zodat hij nooit meer zoiets moois kon maken, maar ik had hem zijn ogen uit laten steken omdat het zo foei-lelijk is!
Daarna bij het Kremlin naar binnen. Het was wel mooi om hier rond te lopen (erg jammer alleen dat heel veel kerken en gebouwen dicht waren) omdat ik veel al op tv had gezien tijdens de inauguratie van president Medvedev. Ik had het me alleen iets anders voorgesteld, misschien wel een stuk indrukwekkender…
Dinsdagmorgen was het dan tijd om bij Lenin op de koffie te gaan. Hij ligt in een mausuleum in het centrum van het Rode Plein. Het was opnieuw behoorlijk indrukwekkend om een leider van een dergelijk kaliber te zien maar ik vond het Mausuleum van Mao in Beijing toch mooier. Dat was allemaal veel groter en statiger.
Het hele Rode Plein staat trouwens al een week lang in het teken van de finale van de Champions League. Er is een klein voetbalstadion, supporters-stands en andere merchandise en de echte fans kunnen met de cup op de foto. Er zijn ongeveer 40.000 Engelse voetbalsupporters in de stad en hun toegangsbewijs tot de wedstrijd geldt als een tijdelijk visum. Ik vind het wel jammer dat ik nu net deze wedstrijd mis.
Ik vond 3 dagen Moskou wel erg gaaf, een stad die je wel gezien moet hebben. Met een goede kaart kan iedereen zich er gemakkelijk redden en ook al wordt deze stad gezien als de duurste van Europa, zo heb ik hem niet ervaren. Het metronetwerk is een grote puzzel maar er zijn altijd wel mensen aan wie je kunt vragen waar je bent.
Maar toen ik vanmorgen weer in St. Petersburg aankwam was ik blij om weer thuis te zijn. Nu is het nog een dag wachten op een reactie van onze afstudeerbegeleider en dan kan er weer heel hard gewerkt gaan worden.

Ik heb de wekker op 5 uur staan en kom er wat later uit. Het restaurant is nog dicht. Ik begin om het eiland te lopen. Het is pas 7 uur en ga ontbijten bij het Menen hotel. Trouwens ik ben op historische grond. Toen ik met Gilbert Veldhuizen werd beroofd in Marokko, bevond de directeur van het Christelijke reisbureau zich op dit eiland. Och, och wat een zegen was het voor hem om toen dit land te mogen bezoeken. Toen hij vernam van ons euvel, heeft hij mij collect-call opgebeld. Hij had het over Nauru en over het goed maken en dat hij geen geld bij zich had om het telefoongesprek te betalen. Het goed maken moet nog gebeuren. Er zijn al bijna 14 jaren verstreken en ik heb de “Gods zij met ons” nog niet mogen ontvangen. Wat een goedertierenheid, dat hij zich voor het refo volk zo mag inzetten, met alle ziel en lichaam. Och, och, amen. Sindsdien vertoef ik mij onder de heidense reisbureaus, met reizen op al de 7 dagen, och och. God noch gebod, maar oprechter dan menig vrome klootzak (Rob de Nijs met “MalleBabbe”). Ik laat me niet verzieken door het verleden. Ik ga maar door. Voordat ik nog meer afgeef en dat doe je niet. De wereld zou er schande van spreken: “Zie je wel ‘s zondags Vroom en ’s maandags Dreesmann”. Een grootouder van JJ refererend. Voor mij is het ook een historisch moment. Ik ben in mijn 185ste land. Wie het kleine niet eert is het grote niet weert. Het is om zeven uur net licht. Om echt de ronde te lopen, loop ik ook echt om het vliegveld heen. Een mammie laat zich met haar kind fotograferen. Bij het parlement zet de Aussie Simon me op de foto. Aussies helpen hier op alle niveaus. Langs de kerk en vissende mannen. Op zee vaart een bootje. Mannen worden voor het werk opgehaald. Op naar de oostkust met de regeringsgebouwen. Je zou ze bijna over het hoofd zien. Ik zie, dat het presidentieel paleis in de buurt is. Berg op dus. Maar na vragen, blijkt de huidige president ergens anders te zitten. Niet erg, ik snij een stukje af. Na twee uur lopen kom ik bij het Menen hotel aan. Er worden extra kamers gebouwd, want het dumpen van economische kolonisten verschaft heel veel werk. Al die Mauro’s wordt het zo aantrekkelijk gemakkelijk gemaakt om weer op te zouten naar hun land. Persoonlijk een goede zaak. We zijn veel te lief te dat spul. Komt waarschijnlijk door ons eigen koloniale verleden. Ik ontbijt uitgebreid in het hotel. De koffie zit bij het ontbijt in en ik hoef maar één extra te betalen. Hier vertoeven veel Australische expats. Ze zitten in de mijnbouw, kolonistenvraagstuk of ondersteuning van het bestuur van het land. Na anderhalf uur ben ik genoeg op krachten gekomen om verder te gaan. Door de koffie moet ik eerst naar een zekere plaats. Wat een wc in dit hotel. Alleen bij de dames is papier en hij kan ook niet op slot. Gelukkig komt niemand naar binnen om mijn henkie te aanschouwen. Bij de opbouw van extra kamers heeft een Australiër de leiding. Hij is geboren in Oostenrijk. Mooi voor hem, maar dat is wel een ander land. In de vorige EK ook in de eerste ronde uitgeschakeld. Net voor de Japanse kanonnen gaat het regenen. Ik moet een hele tijd schuilen. Dat kost me weer ruim een half uur. Ik had hiervoor een dood muisje gezien. Het werd door de mieren opgeruimd. Zijn hoofdje was al helemaal kaal. Als het weer bijna droog is ga ik naar de kanonnen. Eén staat wel erg dicht bij een huis. Het lijkt wel de hamas. Ik denk, dat het huis er later is neergezet. Als het weer gaat regenen, doe ik mijn camera in plastic. Na de enige boerderij met kippen en varkens ga ik schuilen bij een chinees. Als ik later een foto wil maken. Blijkt mijn camera stuk te zijn. De flitser komt spontaan omhoog en er zijn problemen tussen de communicatie van de camera met de lens. Binnen een half jaar is mij tweede camera stuk. Ik laat me naar het hotel brengen en haal mijn onderwatercamera op. Ik heb dan al extra batterijen ingeslagen. Door het schuilen en ophalen van de andere camera verspeel ik weer 5 kwartier. Het is al kwart over twee en normaal loop je in vier uur om het eiland. Het gaat wel wat sneller. Eerst de supermarkt van Capelland Partners en dan naar het Kayser College. Ja, Nauru was eens en Duitse kolonie. Ook hier lat ik me weer fotograferen. En verder gaat de tocht. Een jongen belt met mobieltje, terwijl hij op het graf van iemand zit. Rond vier uur ben ik al bij het ziekenhuis en de sportvelden. Ik kom de Australiër weer tegen en neem eerst een drankje. Tegenover de enige ambassade, de High Commission van Australië loop ik over een pad tussen al het afgegraven grond. Alleen koraalpieken zijn nog te zien. Een jongen zegt me, dat ik terug moet lopen en bij het derde pad linksaf moet. Ik kom weer bij de aussies uit. Ik loop vandaar naar de Tankweg en de weg naar de lagune. Daar is een pad naar de Command Ridge. Twee trimmers zeggen, dat ik bij een pad al snel een paadje moet nemen. Ik zie het niet. Twee jongens een eindje verderop lopen voor me uit. Stoor ik ze bij het vogels vangen. Het is echt het pad, dat ik eerst niet zag. We lopen naar beneden en rechts om een boom verder. Ik kom op het pad waar ik om 17 uur ook was. Nu is het al bijna donker en 19 uur. Ik loop naar de beneden naar de weg. Ik kan geen drinken meer kopen en loop door naar het hotel. De camera doet het nog steeds niet. Dat wordt winkelen in Singapore. Ik laat me naar het Bay restaurant aan de andere kant van het land brengen. De kip curry is wel lekker, maar ik had het veel goedkoper naast het hotel kunnen eten. Er is ook een albinomeisje. Ze is met moeder mee naar een kerstviering van de vrouwen vereniging. Er worden Kerstliedjes gezongen en cadeaus gegeven. Ik heb zo weer een lift terug. De mensen hebben hier ure tweedehands auto’s. De dames heeft er één van 18 duizend dollar en het vervoer naar Nauru was ook nog eens 8 duizend. Ze kunnen het geld ook niet aan vakanties uitgeven. Een retourtje Brisbane is al duizend euro en daar ben ook vanuit Brisbane in bijna de rest van de planeet komen. Naast mijn hotel neem ik nog een afzakkertje. De tent gaat sluiten en de gordijnen gaan dicht. Nu begrijp ik het. Ze zeggen, dat ze vanmorgen vroeg wel open waren. Dus, als de gordijnen open zijn is de zaak open. Om elf uur ga ik slapen.

Het klokje tikt door. Het klikt nergens zoals thuis. Dar is geen airco nodig. Het is al half een geweest, als ik me naar de eerste vlucht op maandag begeef. Een half Kiribatse is nog driftig aan het computeren. Het bier is me te duur, dus blijf ik op een droogje zitten. De bodem van de schatkist is in zicht. Wanner iemand geld over wil maken, geef ik mijn rekeningnummer door. Het is hetzelfde rekeningnummer van armlastige volgelingen van San Cristobal. Een ploeg gewichtheffers gaan ook terug naar hun land. Daar zijn de Pacifische sporters op Pacifisch niveau groot. Er is eens een Micronesiër 6de geworden op de Olympische Spelen geworden. Daar spreken ze nog over. In zwemmen zijn ze niet zo goed. Het is ook zover om van eiland naar eiland baantjes te trekken. Voor teamsporten zijn ze klein. Eén uitzondering dan. Samoa, Tonga en Fiji horen bij de wereldtop van rugby. Ze presteren beter op een WK, dan Nederland op een Ek met voetbal. Ik zet om half een mijn schreden in het enige toestel van Our Airline. Om 1.05 vertrekken we dan. We krijgen een drankje en eten. Goed voor mekaar. Al gauw krijgen we ontbijt, omdat er twee uur tijd verschil is. We landen kwart over zeven in het kleinste land, op het Vaticaan na. Het heeft een omtrek van 18 kilometer en een doorsnede van 6 bij 5 kilometer met 10 duizend inwoners. Als ik door de immigratie ben, moet ik heel lang wachten op Veronica Homestead, die iets voor mij heeft geregeld. Ze komt aankakken, als iedereen en het vliegtuig weg zijn. Het gaat goed met Our Airline. Ze vliegen naar the Marshalls via Tarawa. Raadpleeg google maps. Veronica en haar maatje brengen me naar het huis, waar ik een slaapkamer krijg voor 115 AUS. Ik vind dit verschrikkelijk veel. Het is 100 AUS voor de eigenaar en 15 voor. Ik zeg: “Het logo van Nauru is “Only Gods will”, maar dit kan hij niet bedoeld hebben.” We rijden naar het Od-N-Aiwohotel, daar is een kamer voor 100. Die neem ik. Ha ha, die fantastische Zionisten. Volgend jaar weer een feestje. 65 jaar Israël. Hava na kila hava. En door met mijn verslag. Ik loop bij het postkantoor de enige ansichtkaarten. Het grappige is, dat er al porto op zit. Om het vliegveld naar de regeringsgebouwen. Het centrale politiegebouw, het parlement en dan de bureaucraten. Ik spreek de man van immigratie. Het was beter geweest, dat ik de 100 Aus had overgemaakt. Dit is waarschijnlijk het enige land op aarde zonder pinautomaat, mar ik had wel geld over kunnen maken. Ik geef hem na een verblijf onder een airco het geld en krijg een kwitantie. Auto’s hebben soms geen voorruit. Ik bezoek nog even de katholieke kerk en loop terug. Ik zet een paar meisje op de foto, omdat één zo dik is. Wat een gegiechel. Bij de chinees haal ik een cola om enige afkoeling te hebben. Ik krijg van een Australische een lift naar het hotel en rust daar even uit. Bij de buren eet ik varken en zoet en zuur. Dat is in het Nederlands babi pangan. Even wegspoelen en dan om elf uur slapen. Nog en week en dan weer Pauw en Witteman.

[message] => De reis naar huis zit er op. Op 15 januari hebben wij om 7 uur het hotel in Cartagena verlaten om met de bus te vertrekken naar het vliegveld.
Jacques en ik zaten in de eerste groep en wij vertrokken , na de nodige vertraging met het vliegtuig van 11.45 uur naar Bogota , reisduur ongeveer 1.15 uur. Door de vertraging moesten we op Bogota meteen door om in te checken op de vlucht naar Panama.Ook hier weer vertraging ( technische problemen ) en om 17 uur in Panama. Daar was het een chaos bij het verkrijgen van de boardingpassen voor de vlucht naar Amaterdam. Deze moest om 19 uur vertrekken , maar vertrok pas om 20 uur omdat niet al onze koffers op tijd waren ingeladen. De reis van Panama naar Amsterdam verliep verder vlekkeloos, ondanks de vertraging waren we op tijd in Amsterdam. alle deelnemers en alle auto's hebben de reis volbracht en dat is best opmerkelijk als je je realiseert dat zo'n 85 auto's ieder ongeveer 17.000km hebben afgelegd over soms barre wegen , tropische temperaturen en duizenden km's bergwegen .Nu uitrusten en het tijdverschil weer wegwerken.We kijken terug op een fantastische reis en hebben nu even de tijd om alle indrukken te verwerken en ons bewust te worden van alles wat we gezien en beleefd hebben.
Nogmaals bedankt voor jullie meebeleven en we informeren jullie nog over de Veronica uitzendingen in april en volgende van dit jaar. Ook team 83 zet nog wat laatste filmpjes op hun site.

[title] => Weer terug op Nederlandse bodem - 17 november
[message] => Ha allemaal. Ik ben weer terug op Nederlandse bodem. Vanmorgen om half 7 zijn we geland op Schiphol. Koud man! Wat een kikkerlandje. Haha, kwam ik aan met een legging en schoentjes. Brr… Ik val een beetje in een gat, maar het is toch ook wel weer fijn om thuis te zijn. We hebben een goede vlucht gehad, het ging allemaal heel snel. Ook bij de douane op Curaçao. Als je het eiland op wilt, doen ze moeilijk, maar als je terug wilt, geven ze je het liefst een trap na ;). Nee hoor, dat is ook weer overdreven, maar ze deden nu lang niet zo moeilijk als op de terugweg. Alleen de drugscontrole is erg streng: met van die honden gaan ze langs je bagage enzo. Zelfs toen we terug waren in Nederland moesten we weer uitgebreid door de controle. Blijkbaar wordt er toch nog heel veel drugs gesmokkeld van en naar Curaçao. Maar goed, ik ga mn winterkleren tevoorschijn halen, mn jetlag wegwerken (ik heb vannacht in het vliegtuig werkelijk geen oog dichtgedaan en ben nu al ruim 24 uur wakker), en wennen aan minimaal 30 graden temperatuursverschil.
Voordat ik jullie ga ‘verlaten’ heb ik nog iets leuks. We hebben afgelopen zaterdag namelijk een fotoshoot gedaan op het strand, met een echte fotografe. Erg leuk. We hebben een CD meegekregen met maar liefst 94 foto’s. Een aantal foto’s staan op haar weblog. Voor degene die benieuwd is: http://www.photoflashme.blogspot.com/. Moet je wel even naar beneden scrollen, je ziet eerst een aantal babyfoto’s. Was echt super leuk zo’n shoot. Dan heb je – naast de ‘gewone’ vakantiefoto’s – ook een aantal mooie foto’s als herinnering. Ik kon dat jullie alleen niet vertellen omdat ik Johan wilde verrassen;). Schattig he:p.
Nou, dat was het hele Curaçao avontuur dan. Pfft.. wat is het snel gegaan, ongelooflijk! Nu kan ik nog even bijkomen, genieten van alle herinneringen en vanaf maandag weer volop aan de bak! Tot spreeks allemaal.

[message] => Afgelopen vrijdag, 17.00 uur lokale tijd, hebben we een soort van eerste versie van onze scriptie naar Nederland verstuurd. Na ruim een week van minimaal 9 uur achter de computer zitten was dit een mooi moment. Dit gaf ons ook een paar dagen vrij dus er zijn heel snel treinkaartjes gekocht en een hostel geboekt want Moskou moest nog gezien worden!
Verschillende mensen die al in Moskou waren geweest hadden verteld dat het echt een gekkenhuis is. Het is druk, chaotisch, onvriendelijke mensen, niemand spreekt Engels en het metronetwerk is het grootste doolhof dat er bestaat.
Met dit in ons achterhoofd stapten we zondagmorgen de trein uit….
Ons hostel was met een beetje hulp van Engels en Duits sprekende mensen snel gevonden, de tassen werden gedropt, de zon scheen en de verkenning van de stad kon beginnen.
Op zondag zijn er naast de gebruikelijke stroom buitenlandse toeristen, ook heel veel Russische toeristen. De rij voor musea e.d. was daarom ook enorm, het leek wel de Efteling.
We begonnen daarom ook maar een beetje buiten de stad.
Maandag was de dag dat we op het Rode Plein begonnen. St. Basils Cathedral die aan de rand van het plein staat is één van de pronkstukken van de stad…. maar naar mijn mening is het echt een heeeeeeel lelijk ding. Ivan de Verschrikkelijke heeft de ogen van de Italiaanse ontwerper uit laten steken zodat hij nooit meer zoiets moois kon maken, maar ik had hem zijn ogen uit laten steken omdat het zo foei-lelijk is!
Daarna bij het Kremlin naar binnen. Het was wel mooi om hier rond te lopen (erg jammer alleen dat heel veel kerken en gebouwen dicht waren) omdat ik veel al op tv had gezien tijdens de inauguratie van president Medvedev. Ik had het me alleen iets anders voorgesteld, misschien wel een stuk indrukwekkender…
Dinsdagmorgen was het dan tijd om bij Lenin op de koffie te gaan. Hij ligt in een mausuleum in het centrum van het Rode Plein. Het was opnieuw behoorlijk indrukwekkend om een leider van een dergelijk kaliber te zien maar ik vond het Mausuleum van Mao in Beijing toch mooier. Dat was allemaal veel groter en statiger.
Het hele Rode Plein staat trouwens al een week lang in het teken van de finale van de Champions League. Er is een klein voetbalstadion, supporters-stands en andere merchandise en de echte fans kunnen met de cup op de foto. Er zijn ongeveer 40.000 Engelse voetbalsupporters in de stad en hun toegangsbewijs tot de wedstrijd geldt als een tijdelijk visum. Ik vind het wel jammer dat ik nu net deze wedstrijd mis.
Ik vond 3 dagen Moskou wel erg gaaf, een stad die je wel gezien moet hebben. Met een goede kaart kan iedereen zich er gemakkelijk redden en ook al wordt deze stad gezien als de duurste van Europa, zo heb ik hem niet ervaren. Het metronetwerk is een grote puzzel maar er zijn altijd wel mensen aan wie je kunt vragen waar je bent.
Maar toen ik vanmorgen weer in St. Petersburg aankwam was ik blij om weer thuis te zijn. Nu is het nog een dag wachten op een reactie van onze afstudeerbegeleider en dan kan er weer heel hard gewerkt gaan worden.
